Perry Corway, 2 shows, 11 min. full stage--Musical clown from the Hippodrome. This man works full stage and as a consequence we were obliged to follow him with one of the pictures in the kinetograph. He says he can make a short close in 1, but it will not be sufficient to set Cressy and Dayne. Opens his act by playing on bells and a variety of wind and string instruments. Went big, in fact, the applause hit of the show up to this pont. Cressy and Dayne, 2 shows, 22 min. full stage--Fourth and last week for this popular couple. Quite a big hand on their entrance, but did not go as well as on former Mondays. At this time I am unable to say whether it is the sketch or the material that went before. I shall pay close attention this evening to decide. Matthews and Ashley, 2 shows, 24 min. in 1--In their new talking and singing specialty, "A smashup in Chinatown". Went with laughs and applause all through, though the real laughs were scored by the Hebrew comedian's parodies. Paul Conchas, 2 shows, 23 min. full stage--A perfectly built man, doing feats the like of which I have never seen here before. He easily surpasses Spadoni whom we had here last year. Everything he did was enthusiastically applauded and he will create no end of comment about town. There is no question, at this time, but what his second week will easily be even stronger than the first. Excellent act of this sort. Kinetograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1--Showing the following list of pictures: 1. Whence Does He Come. One of the "reverse" pictures which is quite an novelty. 2. Nautical Sports. Quite a nice colored film. 3. The Wonderful Album.Capital picture from every standpoint, heartily applauded. 4. The Eccentric Burglers. Another picture of the reverse short; not bad. Scott and Johnson, 3 shows, 15 min. in 1--"Real coon" comedians, singers and dancers. A good 3-a-day act of this sort. Of course as with all acts of this sort, their dancing is the main feature and they are not bad by any means. I shall endeavor to move them up tomorrow so as to give them a chance at the crowd. Comment: The show on rearrangement will prove a capital one. We were somewhat handicapped by a misunderstanding in regard to Conway, but on rearrangement we can make it satisfactory. Conchas has an act that to my mind is worthy of cconsideration from all houses on the circuit, that is, judging from the tremendous hit he made today. Although on a little late, all his feats were most enthusiastically applauded.
