(F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of Oct. 9, 1905 Stereopticon, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1--Usual selection of home and foreign views. The Hurleys, 3 shows, 9 min. full stage--Man and woman, neatly costumed, in a fair exhibition of equilibrium. It is a good little side act for an opener for this house. None of their feats are by any means remarkable, but it is all right. The Holdsworths, 3 shows, 15 min. in 1--Man and woman, novelty banjoists, singers and dancers. Well-known on the circuit. Went very well in this spot today and the act could easily stand a much better position if need be. Ed Gray, 3 shows, 12 min. in 1--Story teller and parody singer. Had a new lot of material since he was here last which seemed to please mildly. Just about held this spot today. Cut "tear down Protestant churches". Garnella and Harris, 3 shows, 13 min. in 3--Man and woman, in singing, dancing and acrobatic skit. The woman is not much of a singer, but the man does some eccentric acrobatic dancing that is thoroughly appreciated. Good act for this house for the 3-show section. Winona Winter, 2 shows, 13 min. in 1--Mimetic and singing comedienne with a pleasing personality. She opens with a quiet little song and then impersonates several English favorites and Vernon, the ventriloquist. Went big in this spot this afternoon coming before the curtain three or four times to bow acknowledgement. Will shift with Geo. Day for tonight. Lew Bloom and Jane Cooper, 2 shows, 21 min. full stage--in the skit, "A Picture from Life", which only serves to introduce Bloom in his clever work as a tramp comedian. He was greeted with a good hand when he came on, which shows that he is somewhat of a favorite here. Went with laughter and applause throughout and were it possible I would move them further down the bill. George Day, 2 shows, 14 min. in 1---Popular blackface comedian. Started off somewhat slowly and could not keep up the pace set by Bloom. Will shift him with Miss Winter for tonight and the balance of the week. Warren's Burlesque Menagerie, 2 shows, 13 min. full stage--Seemed to go as well as last week. Good hand at the finish. Paul Conchas, 2 shows, 20, min. full stage--No question whatever about this man making good for aanother six days. The only thing I feared last week was that his feats were really too astounding to look at, especially for women, but all his work was strongly applauded today. The comedian he carries with him relieves the attention somewhat and forces people to laugh almost continually. show tonight with Murphy and Nichols and precede them with Staley and Barback and the Village Choir. Considering the extremely pleasant weather we had a good audience today.
