Cleveland Show Oct. 1 th. (H. A. Daniel ) SILVANO--Ma. Equilibrist doing practically the same work as Charles Serra who opened our show last week. This man dresses his act better than did Serra although his tricks are not as new and he lacks that very graceful finish. However, a good act for this spot. Palace in 3. 11 minutes. OVERTURE--To minutes for wait. BELLE HATHAWAY--Baboons and monkeys. Quite a good act of the kind. The little monkey sailors scored a laughing hit. The audience seemed thoroughly pleased with the act. Palace in 5. 12 minutes. TAYLOR HOLMES--Imitations of George Cohan, Sam Bernard, Richard Mansfield and Steve Brody. All his work was applauded. Went very well indeed with the afternoon audience. Very good act for this house. 15 minutes. Drop in one WILLIAMS & WALKER GLEE CLUB--Fifteen colored gentlemen working in dress suits. Double septette and the director. One of the best vocal acts I have ever heard in vaudeville. Made a pronounced hit this afternoon. Very good act. Palace in 5, close in one. 19 minutes. Took four curtain calls. EDDIE LEONARD--Assisted by the Sharp boys. Black face singing and dancing act, with special plantation scenery. While this is a good act it didn't have a chance on earth following the Williams and Walker Glee Club. The two acts should never have been placed one to follow the other on any bill. They conflict and that does not half express it. In the night show I will split them by four acts. Leonard has a good act, one that would stand out on its merits on most any bill, but he was unfortunate in being made to follow the best colored vocal act I have ever heard. The dancing of the Sharp boys was liberally applauded. Special set in 4, close in one. 17 minutes. BERT COOTE & CO.--Sketch, "A Lamb in Wall Street". First time in Cleveland. Went ohly fair with laughs in spots. It seems that Williams and Walker Glee Club hogged the show and I doubt if there is an act on the bill except the Arabs that can follow. Coote's sketch is a good one and will be better appreciated in the new arrangement. Interion in 3. 23 minutes. DIXON & ANGER-German comedians. For this house as good as any act of the kind in vaudeville. However, it is possible that Taylor Holmes, with our audience, could have held down this place fully as well as did this team. Good Dutch talking in it. Drop in One. 16 minutes. TOOZOONIN ARABS--Twelve of them. Best closing act in vaudeville. Too well known for comment. Garden in 3. 8 minutes. KINETOGRAPH--Three pictures. Good.
