Christmas on the Island", 21 min. open in 2, close in 1--One of the best vocal novelties we have ever played here consisting of a trio of capital singers, and a clever "dude" assistant. Carry a prison interior drop, the vocalists seen from their cells. Hit of the program up to this spot, every selection being heartily encored. Wilfred Clarke, 2 shows, 17 min. full stage--In the comedy sketch, "No More Trouble". Decidedly original idea and a well acted sketch. Scream throughout and excellent hand at the close. Clifford and Burke, 2 shows, 17 min. full stage--Blackface singing, dancing and talking comedians. Before this act came on many of the people went out, owing to the fact I believe, that they imagined there was nothing big in store for them, but they were greatly mistaken. Had considerable new material since they were last here, and went with laughter and applause throughout. One of the hits of the show much to my surprise. In spite of this, we will be obliged to move them up to give a sort of "retainer" to the closing portion of the bill. The Three Meers, 2 shows, 16 min. full stage (can close in 1 if necessary)--Two men and a woman, comedy wire experts. Excellent closing act for this house. The comedy is good and all their work clever. Kinetograph, 3 shows, 25 min. in 1--Showing the following list of interesting motion pictures: 1. Down on the Farm. Excellent picture photographically; laughed at and applauded at the close. 2. The Czar and the Imperial Family. Timely picture, and decidedly the best of this sort we have ever had. Will arouse considerable comment about town. 3. The Wonderful Sedan Chair. Good trick picture. 4. A Funny Shave. Fair comedy picture. The Majestic Trio, 3 shows, 15 min. in 1--"Real coon" comedians, singers and dancers. Their dancing, as always with this sort of act, is the best part of it, and it is all right for an early spot in the 3-a-day section. Comment:- The show, as a whole, is much better than that of last week, both in strength and balance. Long and Cotton are not what they should be to go to the other houses; Al Carleton needs a new line of material. We had a good audience here today, and I think that we will do a good business for the remainder of the week.
