106 TEMPLE THEATER, DETROIT, NOV. 20-Harry Houdini, the handcuff king, dominated the bill this week and could draw immense audiences. The bill as a whole is excellent. J. H. Finn. BRESNAN & MILLER-Singing and dancing. Fairly good opening act. 14 min. in one. Brothers Freydo-These athletes do a hand balancing act that is not above the ordinary. 5 in. F. S. JAS. F. MACDONALD-Singer and story-teller. A refined personality, good stories, good songs and an excellent voice. 16 min. in one. HARRY HOUDINI-This handcuff expert and magician is of great value to any vaudeville theater if properly exploited. Escort him to a police station or jail and permit him to be stripped and locked up. He will escape from handcuffs, manacles and cells, and the press will do the rest if properly handled by the press agent. It was worked with tremendous success here. The sheriff of the county appearing on the stage and tying up Houdini in a straight jacket from which he escaped in full view of the audience. Monday the theater was packed to the doors at both performances and we expect to do a phenomenal business all week. His act runs from 2o to 3o minutes according to the work he is given to do by outsiders. COOPER & ROBINSON-Colored men in singing, dancing and comedy of a high order of merit. They made a big hit here. 13 min. in one. W. H. MURPHY, BLANCHE NICHOLS & CO-Presenting "From Zaza to Uncle Tom." As this act was seen here on a former occasion the novelty was lost and it failed to score very heavily. 23 min. F. S. Open in one. KERN'S MIMIC DOG.-I do not think much of this act. 9 min in 1. NELSON FAMILY-These acrobats have been seen here so often that they have entirely lost their drawing power. 11 min. F. S. KINETOGRAPH-The James Gordon Bennett automobile race in France is a fine film.
