(F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, WEek of Dec. 18, 1905 Stereopticon, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1--Usual selection of interestng home and foreign views. Rice and Walters, 3 shows, 15 min. full stage--In a rural comedy sketch, "Down on the Farm". Pretty poor, even for an opener. Not a hand at the close. Alf Holt, 3 shows, 12 min. in 1--Mimetic comedian and whistler. He is a good animal imitator and his whistling is fair. Closed to a good hand. Good 3-a-day set. Ellen Richards, 3 shows, 9 min. full stage--Novelty wire artist. All her work was thoroughly appreciated and applauded today, and it is an excellent act for the 3-a-day section for this house. Helen Reimer, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1--In a well-known character monologue. Miss Reimer does not appeal strongly to our audiences and this spot, the first in the 2-show section, is just about where she belongs. The Mitchells, 2 shows, 9 min. full stage (with about 2 minutes in 1)--Man and woman, a young couple, whirlwind dancers and acrobats. Personally they did not strike me as anything great, but the "Grand Jury" thought different and they were repeatedly applauded. If they did 3 shows at the same figure, it would be a good act for that section. Julia Kingsley and Nelson Lewis, 2 shows, 18 min. full stage--In the farcical sketch, "After the Honeymoon". Got a good many laughs throughout the piece but closed rather weak. It is a clever little sketch in a way, and I look for it to go better tonight. Coakley and McBride, 2 shows, 22 min. in 1--Blackface comedians and dancers. Their talk is fairly bright but their stronghold is their dancing, which always appeals to patrons of this house. Went very well this afternoon. Rosaire and Dorretto, 2 shows, 11 min. full stage--Eccentric comedy acrobats a la Rice and Prevost. Been commented on in the other houses. The tumbling of one of the men is fair, but the sailor is far from Rice--too mechanical. Act went well today, and next week I think it will go in good shape with the "kids". Fred Niblo, 2 shows, 17 min. in 1--"The American Humorist" Got a fair hand on his entrance and scored laughter and applause this afternoon. With the dull audience today he did considrable toward waking them up. Cut the reference to "Eve's dress". Chick, 3 shows, 10 min. full stage--Comedy tramp cyclist. Quite a clever entertainer in his way, the comedy being fair and his other work well carried out. Comment:- The show this week can hardly be classed as a great one, but coming at this time when we run light bills, it is acceptable. We had just a fair sized audience today, but extremely blase this afternoon.
