143 Cleveland Show Week of Jan. 1, '06. (H. A. Daniels) CROURKE & BURNETTE TRIO--Man, woman and little boy in a singing and wooden shoe dancing act. Quite well known in the Keith houses. Makes a very acceptable opening number. Wooden shoe dancing especially good. C. D. F. 3. 16 minutes. JOSEPHINE GASSMAN AND PICKANINIES-In a new act entitled "A Chinese Idyl". Opens in one with a song by Miss Gassman and a song by one of the pickaninies. This section of the act lacks life. Act then goes to special full stage set carried by Miss Gassman and two pickaninies dressed as Chinese, doing a singing and dancing act. Just about strong enough for this spot. Open in one, special set in 5. 15 minutes. KEELER'S IMPERIAL JAPANESE--Five of them doing some novel work in the line of top spinning and foot juggling, equilibristic and perch work. A very good sight act for this house. Went very well with the holiday crowd. Full stage. 12 minutes. BASQUE QUARTETTE--Three men and one woman in Swiss costumes. High class singing act. Carry special drop. Act is well known in the Keith houses and may be considered a good act of the kind. Special drop in one. 13 minutes. WILTON BROTHERS--Two men. Comedy horizontal bar using the bounding net. Act well known in the Keith houses. It served its purpose well here today and held down this spot in good shape. Good act of the kind. Wood in 5. 8 minutes. STUART BARNES--Monologue. Had a good line of stuff today the greater part of which was new and all of which was interesting. Went very well indeed and received as much applause as any act on the bill. Drop in one. 21 minutes. FRANK D. BRYAN'S AMERICAN GIRLS--A regular "thriller". One of those affairs that makes your blood tingle. A whole lot of the American flag, the Star Spangled Banner and patriotism of all varieties. Barnes opens in one with a character song and the act then goes to full stage with 12 girls who form the human flags. An interesting and entertaining novelty. The act went with tremendous applause. Opens in one, then full stage. 20 minutes. Kinetograph--Moving Day, very good comedy picture.
