146 PHILADELPHIA SHOW, DEC. 25TH, 1905. C. E. BARNS MORTON, TEMPLE & MORTON-3-Two men and a woman. Comedy makeup, straight and soubrette. God dancing, songs slow, some scattered applause. O.K. for this place on the bill. 16 mins. Rd. Lans. in 4. Set H. R. LILLIAN LE ROY-3-Vocalist. Young with rather a pretty voice, evidently concert trained, the tremulous French method, not altogether adapted for vaudeville, however she sang three good selections acceptably, receiving fair applause after each. No recall at close. 12 mins. in1. THE PELOTS-3-Comedy acrobatic and juggling pair. Girl in soubrette costume, and man as a "Rube." Rather clever, though nothing phenomenal in the act. 18 mins. Farm drop, set cottage. Close 4 mins. in 1. WOODFORD'S ANIMALS-3-Cleverwork with trained monkeys, dogs, tiny pony etc. Man not particularly interesting personality, the act lacking the the comedy element. However, the several features brought applause from the gallery, and the children. Not so good as the animal acts we have had lately, but passes as a holiday feature. 15 mins. House gar. in 4. DUDLEY & CHESLYN-3-Man and woman in singing and comedy duo, not particularly strong. Woman tells stories. Has no extraordinary talent, imitation of May Irwin applauded. Man has fine tenor voice, and selections were good. 17 mins. in 1. Drap. THE SUNNY SOUTH-2-Open with a plantation scene with pumpkin and banjo chorus, opens with night scene. Double quartette of singers. Considerable novelty in the construction, the applause was constant, the act act led up to a strong dancing feature. Some of the dancing work was of the very best, and there were many surprises in the changes given. Consider this act one of the best Southern features we ever had.The movement is very swift, and the singing as well as costuming all that can be desired. Can be relied on to hold a good place on the programme. 20 mins. Spec. Drops. in 3 & 4. Wood wings. BORANI & NEVARO-2-"Weary Waggles, in the Dandy Dude Tramp." Humorous acrobatic duo. Man enters in a grotesque tramp costume, the woman twisted around his body under heavy coat. Woman is a very dainty acrobat, and the man does some very clever stunts. Applauded liberally Act altogether highly recommended. 12 mins. C. D. F. in 3. Close 2 mins Olio in1. TRULY SHATTUCK AND THE PRINCE OF PILSEN GIRLS-2-A double quartette of singers and dancers led by Miss Shattuck. Costuming very stunning which brought applause from the rise of the curtain. Miss Shattuck sings very charmingly, and has a delightful personality. The City Girls dances were each well applauded, particularly the Philadelphia Girl, taken by a very pretty dancer. As a feature could say that it is one of the best acts that I have ever seen taken from a comic opera, and placed on the vaudeville stage. The girls put lots of dash and spirit into their act and it went brilliantly to the close, when there were several recalls. Some such feature as this is a winner any time, especially for a holiday week. 14 mins. Red Gar. in 4. OTTO BROS.-2-German comedians and dancers. Quite a surprise for excellence, although we had had good reports of this Dutch comedy team. Their singing was good, their talking was better, and their dancing the best. Smacked a little too much of Weber and Fields in the grotesque twisting of the English language, but there were laughs throughout. A strong feature in 1, and worthy this place on the bill. Falsetto song a scream. 15 mins. Adv. St. in 1. SPISSELL BROS. & MACK-2-Two men working in clown and Dutch, the third straight. Have some good paraphernalia, and the clown's work was especially laughable. When the acrobatic work was reached, it was found to fully bear out the good reports, though strongly reminiscent of Rosale and Doreto toward the close in the knockabout acrobatic fun. It is a fine trio, and one that is sure to win hearty applause to the hurricane finish as it did to-day. 13 mins. Pal. in 4 though crowd was late (owing to rd to wake into applause, which was rather discouraging to the artists [illegible] business however, both afternoon and evening.
