Borani & Novaro. Comedy acrobatic act. Quite good although hardly strong enough for this position. 12 min. open in 3, close in 1, 2 shows. Emil Hoch, Jane Elton & Company. Miss Elton being ill she was replaced by Pearl Hight who played the part satisfactory manner. They got numerous laughs all through, although personally I was not greatly impressed with the offering. 18 min. in 3, 2 shows. Taylor Holmes. This young man was handicapped in the afternoon show by following "The Sunny South" which nothing but a "hurrah" act in one, should follow. He has a good personality and has good material and made as much of a hit as could be expected under the circumstances and the show nearly ten minutes late. I don't consider his imitations particularly correct but I don't believe that the audience realized that. 15 min. in 1, 2 shows. The Sunny South. This act is one which at the finish makes a tremendous hit. It opens a little quietly but they fully atone before they get through, for any short-comings, in the early part of the turn. Under ordinary circumstances I would not want to close with this act but with the show I have it is practically unavoidable. 17 min. full stage, 2 shows. Motion Pictures. "Hen and the Golden Egg". Fairly interesting. "The Bishop and the Burglar." Fair comedy. SECOND REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF JANUARY 8th, 1906 On reconstruction, the entire bill panned out much better than it did at the afternoon show. The big hits of the show were made by the Pickinini Troupe and Alice Pierce, particularly the latter. Alice Pierce This girl made a most unqualified hit, securing recall after recall. I never saw greater enthusiasm displayed over an act before in this house. I want to say that her stock has gone up in my estimation fully thirty per cent since her first performance. I predict for her, especially in Boston, the biggest kind of a hit. Would suggest that in Boston she be boomed strongly as she must have some following in that city due to her former connection with the Boston Museum Company with whom she scored a big hit several years ago as "Little Lord Fauntleroy". Taylor Holmes. Could hardly hold his stiff place in the bill. Is all right but should not be depended upon for any later than 9 o'clock. The Sunny South. Closed the bill. I am in a sense sacrificing this for the benefit of the whole bill. It really belongs earlier, as the opening is quiet and not very satisfactory. The act in its entirety makes good for those who will wait to see the finish.
