Cleveland Show, Week of Jan. 15, '06. (H. A. Daniels) MURPHY & FRANCIS--Man and woman. Real coon singing and dancing act. Could stand a better place on the bill, but they were booked in here to open the show. I had much rather have a sight act here on account of the people coming in late. This team registered a strong kick because they had to open the show and threatened to quit. However, they decided to work. A good colored act. Can work all in one. Open full stage, close in one. 13 minutes. THE VALLEE TRIO--Three young ladies. Harpist, violinist and vocalist. A very neat and refined, high class musical offering. It is a very quiet act, but will appeal to those who are fond of good music. Went quite well today. C. D. F. in 3. 14 minutes. ORPHEUS COMEDY FOUR--A Dutchman, an Irishman, an actor and Buster Brown. Well known comedy singing act. Went very well with liberal applause. Good act. Drop in one. 15 minutes. PICCOLO MIDGETS--Four of them. Well known in the Keith houses. Do practically the same act as they have always done. Seems to greatly amuse the ladies and children. Good act of its kind. Received deserved applause today. Open in one, then full stage. 15 minutes. HOWARD & NORTH--Two men. Well known talking act entitled,"Those were Happy Days". They consumed 24 minutes and the audience seemed to be interested every minute. Frequent laughter and applause. Good act. Special drop in one. 24 minutes. JOSEPHINE COHAN AND CO.--Sketch entitled, "Friday the 13th". by Will. B. Creasy and Fred. Niblo. Miss Cohan may be worth the money but the sketch is not. Creasy has written many better ones. The sketch pleased, but did not make a terrific hit. I think Miss Cohan's name is responsible for a very good house. C. D. F. in 3. Special plush drop in one. 22 minutes. FRED. NIBLO--Monologue. About the same line of stuff he has always given us with some of the objectionable stuff he used in the other houses cut out for which he very kindly substituted some new stuff that is just about as objectionable and which will have to be cut out. CUT--Good night God, I am going to Cincinnati. Story about the hotel clerk squeezing in the back room. The greater part of his monologue was appreciated and applauded. He can easily hold down this place. Good act. Drop in one. 14 minutes. SPISSELL BROS. & MACK--Three men. Comedy acrobatic act. We have had stronger closing acts for an eight act show. The whole show was so very good this week that by comparison they did not show up as well as they otherwise might. However, they got by with a little applause and some laughter. Good act of the kind. Palace in 5. 15 minutes. KINETOGRAPH--Coasting in the Swiss mountains. Very good real life picture.
