Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of Jan. 22, 1906. (Chas. Lovenberg, Manager.) I couldn't ask for a better variety show than the one we have here here this week. With one exception, every act more than makes good in its particular place and way. Paul Frederick. Wire walker. This man does a conventional wire act and at the price is thoroughly all right for an opener. 12 min. full stage, 3 shows. Harry Jolson. Songs and imitations. The only poor act on the bill. Didn't go at all. 12 min. in 1, 3 shows. The Pelots. Comedy juggling act, feature of which is the throwing of apples at the man by people in the adience. Good lively act from a three a day standpoint. 15 min. in 3, can close in one. Thomas & Payne. Man and woman, colored team. Good lively singing act the only trouble is they are inclined to string it out a little Am having them cut about 4 min. out of the act, then it will run about 15 min. 18 or 19 min. today in 3, can work in 1, 3 shows. Charlotte Guyer George. One of the best contralto vocalists we have ever played. From any standpoint, mighty good act, capable of holding down a first class position. 12 min. in one, 3 shows. Should advise booking her over the circuit, by all means at this price. Long & Cotton. This act went better than I expected it would judging by reports. If they had a good strong finish the act would be thoroughly all right. Her imitations are splendid especially that of Mrs. Fiske. I think, however, the act gets a little more money than they should. 23 min. full stage, 2 shows. Carroll Johnson. Wellknown blackface comedian who went acceptably here today, his strongest feature being the recitation of a "prize fight." 23 min. in 1, 2 shows. Kaufman Troupe. Bicyclist. Unquestionably the greatest act of its kind in the world. Received a perfect ovation of applause. 17 min. full stage, 2 shows. Pat Rooney & Marion Bent. Wellknown comedy dancing act which made a decided hit. 18 min. open in 3, close in 1, 2 shows. Gardner & Vincent. Principally, because of its novelty and the material they have this act is very good in spite of the fact that it is not played very well, however, it went strongly and is the sort of a thing that is out of the ordinary and is bound to create a little talk. 20 min. full stage, 2 shows. Matthews & Ashley. In the toughest kind of a spot following all those big hits, these men were somewhat handicaped. The first part of their act dragged a little however, they got them going first rate at the finish. 20 min. in 1, 2 shows. itabanzai Japs. I must admit that I am a little bit disappointed in this act and I think the audience were also. I don't mean to infer that it is not good; it is very good, but not enough better than the Kitamaras to discover any great difference. The costumes are magnificent, but I must say that the curtain disappointed me some. I don't see the $7000 in the three years work or whatever length of time there was in it. 20 min. full stage, 2 shows. tion Pictures. "Everybody Works but Father" Good comedy. "Fire Cascade:; colored fire works; very pretty. "The Barasterters", Good comedy picture.
