(F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of Jan. 22, 1906 Stereopticon, 3 shows, 5 min. in 1--Usual selection of in- Henry Lee, 2 shows, 25 min. full stage--"Speaking Likenesses of Great Men, Past and Present". Got quite an advance reception, and as might be expected, all his subjects were strongly applauded, his President Roosevelt being practically the hit. I think his work is too well known in Boston. Murphy & Francis, 2 shows, 16 min. in 1--Best of all "real coon" singers and dancers. Aroused considerable laughter and applause and were there a better act on the bill for the spot, I would not hesitate to shift them. Rose Wentworth's Equestrian Novelty, 2 shows, 12 min. full stage--Introducing clever reinsmanship and bareback riding. It is a real old time circus act well-known on the circuit. Did not go as well today as last year, but still, it went quite well. Kinetograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1--Shwoing the following list of interesting motion pictures: 1. The Three Phases of the Moon. Good colored film. 2. Views an People of Ceylon. Excellent picture both interesting and beautiful photographically. 3. A Joke on the Roudsman. Good comedy film. One of the best lists of pictures we have had in some time. Henella, 3 shows, 15 min. full stage--Magician and illusionist. He introduced the regulation feats of magic and also a new illusion in which he changes a marble statue to the head of a woman. Only an opening act or a time filler. Toto, 2 shows, 9 min. in 2--Too well-known to need description from me, except to say that it went no better than last week. Comment:- The show is considerably better than that of last week averagedly, but still, it does not come up to what should be the standard of this house for it does not contain anything distinctly new. The time of the show fell considerably short and I will be obliged to put in another act. The audience was neither exceptionally large nor enthusiastic.
