TEMPLE THEATRE, DETROIT, MICH., FEB. 12, 1906. RAE & BENEDETTO-THis comedy ladder act has been utilized to open shows so many times that criticism of it would be needless. 11 min. F. S. JOHN BIRCH-"The Man With the Hats." As Birch has been seen here on a former occasion his act lost its novelty and he did not go very well. 14 min. in one. TROVOLLO-A very good ventriloquist act with several novel and entertaining features. Cut "God," "Christian science better than castor oil," "Lillian Russell in the nest room? I'll stay here." 13 min. F. S. 4 min. in one. FADETTE ORCHESTRA-This orchestra has been kept up-to-date. Stanley, the manager, is a new feature as the announcer for the circus number. Act ran 38 minutes today but was cut down to 33. WILL F DENNY-Descriptive and comic vocalist. Cannot say much in commendation of Denny. 11 min. in one. VALERIE BERGERE & CO.-Presenting a condensation of "Carmen." While this act is well staged it is not nearly as satisfying as "His Japanese Wife" or "Billie's First Love." Miss Bergere shows less dramatic talent as Carmen than in any of her other productions. 25 min. F. S. RAYMOND & CAVERLY-This team is getting away form the German to a certain extent and while they brought little new material they went quite strong as on former occasions. 18 min. in one. EIGHT CORNALLA'S-This act is inferior to many of the other larger acrobatic acts. Their work was uncertain, and one of them was injured about the face by a miss. 9 min. F. S.
