New York Criticism--March 5th, 1906. CAREW & HAYES: The introduced a new opening entitled: "The Lady and the Slavey," which was quite interesting and well done. The "Derby Race" seemed to please and brought forth some little applause. 16 min. open in two-close in one and a half. KATES BROTHERS: One working straight, the other eccentric in a good lively acrobatic comedy. The comedy is alright and the acrobatic stunts good. Act is fully capable of holding down a better place. 8 min.-full stage- 3 shows ARLINGTON COMEDY FOUR Singers and dancers. This delegation had the house padded in great shape this afternoon, for they made the hit of their life. Went very strong. Compelled to take several encores. The dancing is excellent. The harmony of the voices is not as strong as we have had, but the act is mighty valuable to the three-show section. 18 min. in one- 3 shows HUBERT DeVEAU: Was under the impression that this man had a new act. He gave us his regular routine as before. Just about got by. Will move him up to open the show. 16 min. in two- 3 shows POST & RUSSELL: Acrobatic singing and dancing. The comedy or the singing of this act is not much. They secured a few laughs by the stunts of the Fox Terrier dog. The acrobatic dancing being their stronghold, they closed strong. 14 min. in one. LeROY & CLAYTON: Presenting:-"A Horse on Hogan." This is the third time for this act and it is remarkable how it holds on. It is safe to say they went fully as strong as on their first presentation. 21 min. CLIFTON CRAWFORD: Received a big lot of advance applause. This man presents a unique and original monologue, and is certainly a great entertainer. Applause hit of the show. 20 min. in one. WATERBURY BROS. & TENNY: They have a new opening to their act, which secures a few laughs. The comedy end is good. Their selections were excellent and were applauded throughout. Act closed very strong. 25 min. close in one about 5 minutes. JOE HART AND CARRIE DeMAR: In what they term a one-act musical farce:- "The Other Fellow." The idea is merely to introduce the vocal work of the pair. The act is good in spots. Secured a few smiles here and there. 27 min.
