202 New York Criticism--Feb. 26th, 1906. GEO. HOLDEN: Magician. This man makes a fair appearance with a poor delivery and his work very ordinary. Left the stage without a hand. 15 min. in two (Close in one) 3 shows ALI & PEYSER: 2 men. Acrobatic comedy. One working straight and the other eccentric. The comedy end of this act is very weak and their work is the regulation acrobatic stunts done by all the performers of this type. They are alright to open the show. Audience couldn't see them. 10 min.-full stage- 3 shows LELIA TAYLOR: Vocaliste. The only good thing about this woman is her costume and her selections. How this woman ever secured booking or was passed along by the other houses is a mystery. This is another act where the programme was more amusing than the woman trying to sing. 10 min. in one- 3 shows BROWNING, WELP & CO: 2 women and a man. In a miniature musical comedy:- "The Widow Wise." This is the first act on the bill that received a wee bit of attention from the audience or scored any applause. The comedy end of the act does not amount to much. The comedienne is good and amused. The act is intermingled with a lot of singing, which was appreciated. Act on the whole is not bad. Alright to open the show. 22 min. full stage- 3 shows YOUNG & MELVILLE: Man and woman. Singing and dancing. This young couple make a very pleasing appearance. The woman has a good voice, while the man's is rather weak in the vocal line, their stronghold being the dancing, which carried them off fairly good. Act is alright for second place on the bill. 10 min. in one- 3 shows MR. & MRS. JIMMY BARRY: Presenting:-"The Village Cut-up." First act on the bill to make the audience sit up and take notice. The act is one of the best that this couple has presented here. Contains many bright lines and up-to-date material. Everything they did seem to please immensely. 23 min.-full stage- (Close in one about 5 min.) 2 shows PETCHING BROS.: Presenting the musical flower garden. 2 young men in a musical comedy. One working straight and the other is a Dutch comedian. He is not much of a comedian although not at all offensive. The selections of the music is very passe'. Act is not as good as when presented here before. 17 min. (Close in one about 2 min.)- 2 shows KINETOGRAPH: "The Two Little Waifs." An old kidnapping subject. Rather serious, but alright. "Mr. Butt-in." Good comedy. Some scenes rather rough. NOTE: The Managers on the Circuit should notify the performer when there is an objection made to any of his material that the same must be eliminated from his act on the entire Keith Circuit, and all objections in one house are supported by the other. If such a system was in vogue to-day, it would not be necessary to again notify Joe Flynn, Mr. & Mrs. J. Barry and several others of material which we desired "Cut out."
