PITTSBURG, PA. GRAND OPERA HOUSE JAN. 29th, 06. VALVENO BROS-Head and Hand Equilibrists. 3 shows. 8 minutes. I consider this a very good act-much better than any acts of the kind playing three shows. WALTER DANIELS-Imitations of well known actors. 14 minutes. This act does very well among the three a days. HARRY EDSON and dog Doc. 3 shows-12 minutes, interior. Mr. Edson has one of the best dog acts we have ever played. We have him on at 8:15 and he is doing very well for us. KATHERINE BLOODGOOD-Operatic selections. 9 minutes, olio. Miss Bloodgood is not going well with us this time and I feel sure we would not want to play her again. BYERS & HERMAN-Spectacular and grotesque pantomime. 17 min. These two men do a comedy wire and contortion act- the contortion work being as good as any we have seen. They carry special trick scenery. Taking the act as a whole, I consider it a very good one. MABELLE ADAMS-Character violinist. Olio in one. 9 minutes. I consider this a very good act. She is on about three and nine o'clock and she is going exceptionally well. I think when salary is considered she is a good act to play. HARRY TATE'S CO in "Motoring". 14 min. Wood. One of the best laughs we have had in a long while. The comedy is all gotten out of the breaking down of an automobile and the attempt to start same. It is an act that could repeat with us and I feel sure would go big with any audience. SPOOK MINSTRELS-15 minutes. 20 min. They have improved considerable-dressing the five men in white suits and powdered wigs, the same costume as shown in the picture. This act was a very big hit during their stay here-the singing of the quintette being far above that of many acts we have played. VALERIE BERGERE & Co. in "Carmen". Special set, wood, 25 minutes. We did not like Miss Bergere's Carmen. While it was not bad, she has done so many things that were so much better that she was sort of a disappointment to our patrons, in Carmen. I consider her support very bad. Would much prefer her in "A Japanese Wife". CRANE BROS-18 minutes, olio in one. This act is too well known for extended criticism. I think they went bigger during this engagement than ever before. PICHIANI TROUPE-12 minutes, palace. 5 women, 3 men. This is a very good act, being exceptionally well dressed and away from the usual run of acrobats. They went very strong with our patrons. ARTINI SISTERS-3 shows. 9 minutes. Wood. Billed as "Italian Songbirds. These young ladies wore handsome costumes, were not good singers, and fair dancers. I consider the act very bad. John P. Harris.
