222 March 19, 1906. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E. Barnes. KITTIE STEVENS, Character Dancer:- 10 min. F.S. A pretty girl appearing in various dances with appropriate changes in costume. Not a big act at all, but it carries very well in the 3-a-day section, and while she is not a very skillful dancer, yet she is graceful and her costumes are very becoming. Holds this place O.K. SCHUBERT QUARTETTE:- 3 shows, 12 min. in 1. Make a very good presentation and sing with grace and charm. Each one of their selections received very good applause. Regard it as an excellent feature in the 3-a-day section. They will go even better and stronger with our evening audiences. GORMAN & WEST:- 3 shows, 15 min in 3, close in 1. Man and woman both working straight. Make a very good showing in the three-a-day section. The plot is rather slender, but received quite a few scattered laughs. The singing and dancing in 1 received a good hand. SID BAXTER, Aerial Cyclist, assisted by Miss Beatrice Southwick:- 12 min. F.S. 3 shows. Fine appearing young man with a very pretty lady assistant. The work on the whole is very skilful and the bicycle and unicycle is nothing short of the phenomenal. Each of his acts got a good hand. O. K. for this place on the bill. THE THREE MITCHELLS, Singers and Dancers: 15 min. in 1. Man, woman and little girl. Good swift coon stuff, particularly the dancing. All work straight. Little girl has a remarkable voice, although a little strained. The dancing and comedy work is very rapid. Received hearty encore and gave some comedy dancing that brought a good many laughs. All right here. MONROE, MACK & LAWRENCE, "Maggie's Day Off":- 18 min F.S. Got some advance applause. Monroe started off in a great style and the roars of laughter were continuous throughout the whole act. The situations were grotesque, and the rough and tumble comedy makes it very valuable for this place on the bill. The applause was constant and at the finish there was a rousing hand. WILLIE ECKSTEIN, Phenomenal Boy Pianist:- 17 min. in 1. 2 shows. Certainly a phenomenal young genius. The work is of the nervous but brilliant order and full of the most difficult technique. He lacks the poise of the artist, but that will come later. His touch is very sure and his selections to-day were very pleasing to our audience. Every number got a good hand. Closed very strong and took an encore. CAPRICE, LYNN & FAY:- 14 min. F.S. closed in 1. Three pretty girls in stunning costume. One of the daintiest acts we have ever had here. They certainly got the crowd. The singing and dancing are of the best Vaudeville order. Every one of their features was strongly applauded. Wish we might have as fetching a feature on every one of our bills. Closed immensely. are certainly great people in their specialties. WILLIAMS DUE:- 14 min. F.S. Man and woman in refined musical act playing different instruments. Neatly dressed and their work is good for the three-a-day section. A local act put on at the last minutes to take the place of Rado & Bertram, on account of illness. KINETOGRAPH:-HORSE THIEF:- Quite thrilling and altogether thoroughly satisfactory. TROUT FISHING:- Interesting out door life. DREAM OF THE RAREBIT FIEND:- The best comedy series on the Kinetograph I have ever seen. It caught the audience with roars of laughter and took a hand at the close as if it were a real comedian of the best order. Do not wonder that it got on immensely elsewhere. the stage for a third. The house is jammed to the doors and every mother's son will go away telling his neighbor so that there will be no doubt of our having a big house for the balance of the week.
