Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of March 25, 1906. The show didn't play hardly as well as I expected it would, although upon re-construction I think it will improve. I have laid it out to play in the following rotation: Juggling Matthiews. Man does some fairly good juggling from a 3 a day standpoint; the woman is simply an assistant. No reason on earth why they should get as much money as they do, because it is entirely a single act, the woman cuts no figure whatever. 11 min. full stage, 3 shows. Could do a short close in 1. Somers & Law. Talking act, two men, one "straight" the other "Deautch". Pretty bad affair. 14 min. in 1, 3 shows. Shields & Rogers. Lariat throwing and acrobatic work; the acrobats giving a little novelty to the act, taking it out of the ordinary rut. Good 3 a day act. 12 min. full stage, 3 shows. Tom Almond. Dancing on long shoes and with ice-skates on a pedestal. Wellknown act, always safe in an early spot on the bill. 10 min. in 1, 3 shows. Diamond & Smith. Songs illustrated with stereopticon and moving pictures. This act was one of the hits of the bill. It is a mighty good presentation and from a three a day standpoint, excellent. Should by all means be grabbed up at once by the 3 a day houses and is thoroughly all right in any house. 19 min. in one, and the people wanted more. 3 shows. Larsen Sisters. This is a pretty good act, although in no sense remarkable. It has been described before. 8 min. full stage, 2 shows. Sabel Johnson. Soprano. I was somewhat disappointed in Miss Johnson's work. Her voice lacks quality and there is practically nothing to it excepting a few high notes which she sings and which is merely a vocal trick. She made no great impression on the audience whatever. 10 min. in 1, 2 shows. Genaro & Dailey. The acting of these people is something wild and weird. They open well with a song and they finish well with their dancing, but the sketch part of the act in between should be eliminated, and I would eliminate it if I had the time. However I am doing the next best thing in putting them on very early. The act is overpaid by $100. even at its present standard. 22 min. open in 3, close in 1, 2 shows. Tenji Trouupe. Japanese magicians. Their principal feats are "the thumb trick" and water-spouting. The rest of their magic is merely ordinary however, at the money the act is all right and went decently well. 20 min. full stage, 2 shows. Dillon Bros. These men have practically the same stuff they have been giving us for years and I never could understand why they got the salary they do. I don't believe the introduction of their brother has affected the act in any way; they never were strong here; in any case I think I shall have to pass them by, in the future. 15 min. in 1, 2 shows. "Dream of the Rabbit Fiend." Very good comedy picture.
