229 2. CRANE BROTHERS, "The Mudtown Minstrels":- 17 min. in 1. 2 shows. In spite of the fact that it is a quick return, and that the third "brother" was a new recruit (and not as good as his predecessor), they went just as strong as ever, if not stronger. Very little that is new in their act, but they caught the house at once, and held the interest to the close, when they got a rousing good hand. No doubt their success was largely due to the fact that up to this point there was very little comedy, and people were hungry for it. LOUISE MONTROSE and HER AUTO GIRLS:- 16 min. F.S. 2 shows. A very pretty feature, the dancing was swift in action and dainty. Miss Montrose has a charming personality and a pretty figure. She sings very acceptably. This is one of the best girl acts we have had for some time. HARRY ATKINSON, Australian mimic and imitator of musical instruments:- 14 min in 1. The novelty of this act caught the house. Everyone of his imitations of instruments was strongly applauded. The limitations of such an act are iron-bound, but he did all that any body could do without the aid of instrument or confederate. Think the act will go better with the evening crowd. There is some humor in this feature to make it popular. MACY and HALL, "A Timely Awakening":- 23 min. F.S. This is a very brightly written and acceptable little play. The idea is that of a husband who neglects his wife. During one of his quarrelsome moods, he goes to sleep, and imagines his wife turning tables on him as a rounder and a sport. "The timely awakening" brings him to a sense of his shortcomings. The act was very well received, and the laughs were frequent. There was also good applause at the finish. O.K. for this place on the bill. BLOCKSOM & BURNS:- 14 min. F.S. Open and close in 1. Owing to the fact that we were very shy on comedy, much to our surprise, this act went immensely. It is not the act for this place on the bill, however, and it will have to be shifted. The acrobatic part is good, and the absurdity of the difficult feats being done by the aid of a wire from the flies, got the crowd in spite of the fact that it had been done here by the same people many times before. Passed off much better than we expected, and the laughter and applause were frequent with a big hand at the close. RICCOBONO'S HORSES:- 14 min. F.S. These horses are very beautiful specimens, and their tricks are remarkable in a way. The feature lacks the spectacular such as Mme Rentz's horses, but they were much better trained and go through their feats showing long practice. Each one of their stunts got a good hand. Very satisfactory closing act for the show. KINETOGRAPH:-LOST EYEGLASSES:-Fair comedy series. ELEPHANT TRAINER;- Short and poor. Does not belong here. BIRDS-EYE VIEW OF PARIS:- Passably interesting series which suggests that a panoramic view of the towns on the Circuit from some high point would take well. We shall try it here in Phila. at any rate. PLEASE HELP THE BLIND:- Pretty good comedy, but the Kinetograph offering this week is below that of last two weeks, particularly "The Dream of the Rarebit Fiend". Goetz & Nelson.....6.25 Somers & Law.....6.35 Browning, Welp & Co......6.50 Cherry & Bates.....7.12 Keith's Orchestra.....7.24 Mr. & Mrs. Edmonde.....7.30 Sailor & Barbaretto.....7.35 Fadettes.....8.05 Crane Bros......8.33 Macy & Hall.....8.50 Blockson & Burns.....9.12 Louise Montrose.....9.26 Harry Atkinson.....9.41 Riccobono's Horses.....9.55 Kinetograph.....10.10 10.30.
