237 Cleveland Show, Week of April 9th, '06. (H. A. Daniels.) HATHAWAY & SIEGEL---Man and Woman. Used to be Hathaway & Walton. Singing & Dancing specialties. I believe the man is the best wooden-shoe dancer in the business. He has John Ford beaten a mile. The act went exceptionally well for an opener. Drop in one. 9 min. BROWN, HARRIS & BROWN---2 men and a woman, offering an act that is without sense, rhyme, or reason. There is some singing, some dancing, some comedy, and some talking. It is a disjointed affair, and could not be named. The balcony and gallery thought it immense. Those in the orchestra and boxes did not care much for it. I am Anxious ti see what they will do with the night audience. CUT OUT--"What the Hell." and "I'm an Indian Jew." 23 min. Pal in 4. Close in one. CALLAHAN & MACK---This act has played the circuit often, and is too well known to need comment at this time. I understand they are to star next season. They received advance applause on their entries today. Special set in 3. 20 min. MISS BERTHA WALTZINGER---Vocalist. The lady used very poor judgement in her selections today, and consequently the act was somewhat of a disappointment. She attempted to translate four of the popular English songs in German, and they did not take. If she would stick to her operatic work, and let the popular stuff alone, I am convinced she would go much better. 10 min. Drop in One. THE RAREBIT FIEND'S DREAM---After seeing this moving picture at the rehearsal Saturday morning, I decided to give it a place in the middle of the show, and feature it. It proved one of the best comedy acts on the entire bill. A scream of laughter, and I shall hold it for a second week. 7 min. LEON MORRISS' PONIES---This act was a disappointment. He has no business getting half the money he does. He carries 5 men, who do little else than run about the stage, and get in each others way. The clown is tiresome. Berzac's Animal act has this one beaten five miles. The act today was stretched out to thirty minutes, which is altogether too long, and the finish was very weak-----so weak, in fact that there was hardly a ripple of applause. He should discharge four of his men, and cut his salary $200.00. F. S. 30 min. CARTER & BLUFORD---Man and woman. Colored Team. They had a mighty hard spot, for half the audience was asleep, and it took them some time to wake them up. They did fairly well in this spot, but not nearly as well as I had hoped they would do. Special drop in one. 11 min. SNYDER & BUCKLEY---Musical Comedians. this act has played the circuit so often that it needs no comment at this time. One of the best musical comedy acts in vaudeville, and I have never known them to fail to make good. An excellent act for this house. C.D.F.3. 25 min. Close in one. MOSHER, HOUGHTON & MOSHER---Three men. Comedy bicyclists. Name of act is familiar, but two of the faces are new. It proved to be the best comedy bicycle act that we have had in the house this season. Their acrobatic work is excellent, and the comedy is of the kind that brings out real laughs. A very good act. F. S. 13 min.
