Marion Garson, 2 shows, 12 min. in 1--Well-known soprano vocalist. Has been commented upon in the other houses. As when she was here last year, she scored one of the hits of the show today. Barrows-Lancaster Company, 2 shows, 24 min. in 3--Playing the comedy playlet, "Tactics". One of the members of this company is quite a favorite in Boston, Mr. Barrows, formerly of the old Museum company. The playlet is one of the best we have had this season and scored quite a big hit. Personally, I believe the cast could be improved upon. Avery and Hart, 2 shows, 17 min. in 1--Popular colored entertainers, introducing an imitation of Bert Williams, which is one of the best bits of entertainment we have had in this house and scored a big hit. In fact, they scored one of the hits of the show being forced to come before the curtain and bow acknowledgments repeatedly. The Great LaFayette, 2 shows, 17 min. full stage--Imitation of noted music directors. Of his impersonations, it may be said those with whom we are familiar, were done well, while the others provoked little laughter and a like amount of applause. His "band" is not quite as bad as last year. Kinetograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1--Showing the following list of pictures: 1. Please Help the Blind. Good comedy 2. A Bird's Eye View of Paris. Interesting 3. I've Lost My Eye Glass. Good comedy 4. The Juvenile Elephant Trainer. Interesting to children Newman and Knowles, 3 shows, 15 min. open in 3, close in 1--Two women, in a singing specialty introducing a couple of imitations. They both sing several songs but neither of them have a voice that would commend itself to the Opera. Their choice of songs helped considerably Comment:- The show is lacking in comedy, being without a good strong laugh until we get to Barrows-Lancaster Co. Individually, the majority of the acts are all right in their position, but those representing the comedy division are not of sufficient mirthprovoking qualities to make it a good show. Tonight LaFayette took occasion to make exception to some of the advertising claiming that he was to be the feature and the only feature according to his contract. 'Tis another case of performer has copy of contract, which is of a special order, and the house has none. I have had to ask his permission to see the contract in order to find out where the house stands.
