(2) BURKE & DEMPSEY: They gave us the identical act as they did before. Trovollo and Byron & Langdon simply snowed them under in this place. They secured some few smiles, but not enough to cause any great sensation. Left the stage very tame. 16 min. in one- 2 shows ELECTRIC CRICKETS: This organization consists of one man and 9 women nicely costumed in a series of songs, special marches with electrical effects, etc. Make three changes of costume:-First, that of the electric crickets with special electrical effects forming a very neat picture,-Second, that of the Japanese Girls and the Third, that of Soldiers. At the finish of the act, showing the pictures of Lincoln, McKinley, Roosevelt, etc. spelling the names on the knapsacks which the girls carried. quite a novel idea. It is as good as any girl act of this character we ever had. Received a fairly good hand at the finish. 21 min.-full stage ANNA EVA FAY: Second 11:-"Somnolency." Description of this part of the act was given in previous criticism. She answered the questions very rapidly this afternoon and each person responded to their name and appeared to be perfectly satisfied, all the answers bringing forth screams of laughter. Received quite a big lot of applause as she left the stage, proving that the Jury were pleased with her work,-some saying on the way out that she was really a marvel. 20 min. in one HILL & SILVIANY: First act of this nature that we ever had to hold the audience. Probably due to the special line inserted in the programme. However, all the stunts were greatly appreciated and they closed to some very strong applause. Compelled to take several bows. 11 min.-full stage KINETOGRAPH: "A Tour of Italy, showing the eruption of Mr. Vesuvius." The tour of Italy is alright photographically, but the eruption of Mr. Vesuvius is very fakey. "A Winter Straw Ride." Good comedy. NOTE: The Union Square played to a most aristocratic audience to-day than for many seasons, Willa Holt Wakefield being the society attraction. Good sale of reserved seats on both performances. The show is fairly good, well balanced, contains many new faces, several novelties, and free of the "has beens."
