249 (F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of April 23, 1906 Overture, 2 shows, 8 min.--Selections from "Peggy From Paris" Young and Melville, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1--Man and woman, singers and dancers. They do not amount to much as vocalists, but their dancing is very fair. Went satisfactorily in this spot, closing to a good hand. Good act of the kind for the 3-a-day section. The Trillers, 3 shows, 14 min. in 3--Two men, one straight and the other in tramp makeup, in a novel exhibition of rag pictures. Quite a departure from the usual run of things, and as a consequence, was liberally applauded. Good act for this spot on the bill. Willie Weston, 3 shows, 14 min. in 1--Imitating well-known stage celebrities including Eddie Foy, George Cohan, Bert Williams, and many others, all of which were liberally applauded. Cut story of open work waist and "Stand up here and undress you". Les Auberts, 2 shows, 8 min. full stage--Parisian acrobatic dancers. Well-known on the circuit. Makes a very good appearance and their dancing was heartily applauded today. Could stand a lower spot. Hodges and Launchmere, 3 shows, 17 min. in 1--Man and woman, "real coon" comedians, singers, dancers and imitators. Their "sea voyage" provoked heaty laughter and their cat dust sent them off to a big hand. Lafayette, 2 shows, 16 min. fill stage--Doing his travesty band this week for the first act. Went much better than during the previous six days, in fact, it scored quite a big hand today. Therese Dorgeval, 2 shows, 10 min. in 1--French Prima Donna Soprano. Makes a very pleasing appearance and has an excellent voice. She sang three songs today, each of which were strongly applauded, and got an excellent hand at the finish. Trovelle, 2 shows, 18 min. open in 3, close in 1--Well-known ventriloquil comedian, who has been commented upon from the other houses. It is some time since we have had a ventriloquil comedian, and as a consequence together with the fact that he has very bright material, this man went exceedingly well in this spot today. By comparison, he is not up to Reynard for this house. Cut story about the young lady from Cincinnati who is to occupy the room next to him and "Come on with me". Carleton Macy and Edna Hall, 2 shows, 22 min. in 3--In the comedy sketch, "A Timely Awakening". As on its first visit here this sketch was followed with interest and laughter throughout and scored a big hit. In fact, it is one of the best sketches we had had here. Kinetograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1--Showing the following t of pictures: 1. The Lost Collar Button. Good comedy picture. 2. Life on a Steamer. Interesting. 3. Summer Boarders. Fair comedy. Comment:- The show is a good one, well balanced and there uld be no dimunition in attendance.
