251 New York Criticism--April 23, 1906. [GARDOWNIE?] SISTERS: Dancers. A pleasing little dancing act worthy of a better place. 9 min. in one- 3 shows "CHALK" SAUNDERS: Comic Cartoonist. Very interesting. Received a big lot of applause with many laughs throughout. Closed very strong. Good three-show act. 10 min. in two - 3 shows ANTRIM & PETERS: In their musical comedy:-"A Tarry at Tank Town." Act has improved a little. Went good in spots. Some of Antrim's imitations were greatly appreciated, while others the audience couldn't see. Could never see this act do two shows. It is alright for second or third on the bill. 15 min.-full stage- 3 shows JUGGLING MATHIEUS: Man and woman in a juggling act. Man does all the work, while the woman acts as assistant. They do nothing but regulation juggling stunts. Work quick and manage to get some little applause. It is a good opening act. 11 min-ful stage- 3 shows THE BOLDENS: Colored man and woman. Singing and dancing. Little tame on the start-off. Singing don't amount to much, but the man held them with his acrobatic dancing. Got a big round of applause on his finish. 15 min. in one- 3 shows LILLIAN APEL: Supported by FRANCIS BYRNE,-In a comedy sketch, entitled:- "A Fair Masquerader." The idea is good and novel, situations funny with good business. Open in one about one minute and manages to secure some strong laughs. The man is very good. Miss Apel is a clever pianist and her work was appreciated. Act is thoroughly alright to open the early two-show section at a Hundred Seventy-five. 22 min. open in one about 1 min.-closed full stage- 2 shows CELINA BOBE: Scored immensely on both her xylophone and violin work. 11 min. in one- 2 shows BROWN, HARRIS & BROWN: If anybody remembers Harry Brown of Brown & Harrison, they will know what he is doing. The act is a big lot of nonsense, but they got them going to-day on the start-off and the result was-the laughing hit of the show. Compelled to encore and bow several times. 26 min. full stage- 2 shows MARION GARSON: This little girl still carries the same big voice. Her selections are quite good, each receiving a big lot of applause. 10 min. in one- 2 shows quite late and they managed to score no end of laughs. I believe they went full as strong as on its first presentation. Compelled to take several bows on the finish. 18 min. open in two-closed full stage FRANK BUSH: This man negotiated this spot in great shape. The best part of his material was new and they seemed to enjoy it immediately. 16 min.-1 MULLEN & CORELLI: In their acrobatic comedy. Scored several laughs and received big applause for their acrobatic work. Good closing act. 10 min.-full st KINETOGRAPH: "Life in India." Very interesting "Playing Truant." French chasing picture Very good
