Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of December 5th, 1904. (Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr.) The show considered in its entirety is an exceptionally good one and with normal conditions should draw big business. There isn't a bad act on the bill although two or three are not quite up to what they should be. [Illegible; lost in fold] Yankee comedians, man and woman. This act is just about good enough to open the show and that is about all. There is a lot of tiresome talk with a few funny situations. 22 min. 3 shows close in one. Herbert Brooks. Card manipulator and trunk mystery. Good act, could be placed in a more important place in the bill. 16 min. can open in one, close full stage, 3 shows. Markey & Moran. Irish talking act, not at all bad from the three a day standpoint. They got quite a few laughs. 15 min. in one, 3 shows. Bellman & Moore. These people's voices are about gone and they have strung together a number of the old specialties, from their two former acts and I presume from that call this is a new act which it by no means is. They are getting at least $50. too much money and we frequently have people doing three shows a day who go better. In a very easy spot in the bill they did very well but I can't see them again for that turn. 18 min. full stage, 2 shows. Mills & Morris. Two girls doing blackface act, one of the team being exceptionally good, the other one fair. They score well at the finish as well as with one of the single songs. Good three a day act. 12 min. in one. Snyder & Buckley. This act is too well known to require comment. They have several new pieces in their act both in the way of instruments and comedy and made their usual hit. 27 min. open in three, close with about 7 min. in 1, 2 shows. Jane Courthope & Co. This act is a distinct disappointment. It has three or four very funny situations but there is an awful lot of dry talking leading up to them. I was obliged to move it up to an early spot on the bill. 20 min. full stage, 2 shows. Lew Hawkins. Blackface, songs and stories. This man always does well and usually manages to have some new material. This engagement is no exception. 16 min. in one, 3 shows. Harry Gilfoil. Mimic. This man was a very agreeable disappointment to me and did much better than I expected he would. He gives a most artistic performance and his imitations were presented in a way that made them most acceptable. A decided hit. 20 min. open full stage, and with a strong persuasion gives about 3 min. in one, 2 shows.
