8 PHILADELPHIA SHOW, DEC. 5TH'04. H. A. DANIELS. MATTHEWS & HAVERLY-KR-3-Two men, Irish talking act. Close with a little travesty work that received a few laughs. A little singing and a few stories. Cut out: "You fool" and "You dirty thing." Fair three show act. 18 mins. C.D.F. 2-1/2. CAMPBELL & CAULFIELD-GRR-3-Two men, Irish comedians. Singing and talking act. Good enough to fill time in an unimportant place in the three show section, and that lets it out. Our audiences do not care for this style of act. 14 mins. in one. ADAIR & DAHN-GRR-3-Man and woman, tight wire act. Neatly dressed, clever performers, and they do some really good work. A very good three show act. Their work was frequently applauded. 11 mins. Gar. 4. TRASK & GLADDEN-KR-3-Two men, straight singing and dancing act. Work in evening dress. Fair singing--good dancing. Good three show act. 8 mins. in one. THE CHAMBERLINS-GRR-3-Man and woman, lassoing and rope manipulation. A novelty. Very good three show act. Interesting and instructive. 10 mins. Landscape in 4. LILLIAN LE ROY-AR-3-Vocalist. Good voice. Her work was liberally applauded. Good three show act. Carries some special scenery, a long prop. list and a yard of light cues. She handed in the whole bunch on Monday morning, unexpectedly. She should be made to send this stuff in ahead. 13 mins. Open in one. Special drops in 2 & 2-1/2. LES DAHLIAS-GYH-2-Man and woman, French dancing act. Have a butterfly novelty for their opening. Do a short dance--then some posing. A good novelty act for the early two show section. 10 mins. Gar. in 4. Special drops in 3 & 4. EARL & EARL-GYH-2-Two men, banjoists. Played here four weeks ago, but we had to give them another week. The former criticism stands. Good banjo act. 11 mins. in one. HOWARD & BLAND-YRR-2-Presenting their new sketch, entitled "The Stage Manager." Act opens well on a bare stage, with a few props. scattered around. First five minutes of the act is very good, then it sags some, until Howard gets them again with his piano specialty, with which he closes the act--and closes strong. The act is crude in spots, but can be built up into a good act in time. 24 mins. Bare stage. MATTHEWS & ASHLEY-GNH-2-Two men, Jew comedians. A very good act, the "tall one" of the team being especially good. They have some new and clever stuff and went well, with laughter and applause. Good act. 20 mins. in one. DELMORE & LEE-YHR-2-Two men, spectacular revolving aerial ladder act. Well known on the circuit. Probably the best of its kind. Very good act. 12 mins. Special black art drop in 3. BASQUE QUARTETTE-YHR-2-Three men and one woman. Vocalists, singing in Swiss costumes. Straight singing act, and a good one, every number being liberally applauded. 12 mins. in one. RYAN & RICHFIELD-YYH-2-In their well known sketch "Mike Haggerty's Daughter." Too well known for comment. A very good act. 25 mins. Kitchen in 3. The Suburbanite. Second week. Good comedy. Penn. Football Team. Second week. Good local picture. Lady Plumpton's Motor Car. Fair.
