Cole and Johnson, 2 shows, 23 min. open in 2, close in 1- Went much stronger than last week, due to the fact that they sang nearly all their old and most popular songs. As a matter of fact, they were the applause hit of the show. The Glinserettis, 2 shows, 10 min. full stage -- Six circus acrobats, in a good exhibition of tumbling and equilibrism. One of the best "big acrobatic acts we play. Went quite strong. Fred Niblo, 2 shows, 19 min. in 1 -- First time in three years for this clever monologue comedian. Most of his material was the same as he used formerly, but that evidently was unknown to the audience. His clean-cut personality, and rapid delivery helped him wonderfully. Scored one of the laughing hits of the show. Robert Hilliard, 2 shows, 22 min. full stage -- Presenting for the second time here his one-act play, "No. 973", which went better than I ever knew it to do before. Every point was applauded. I do not believe he draws any business now but simply makes good with those who come here. Therefore, his salary should be scaled. Carlin and Otto, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1 -- One of the best German dialect comedy, singing and dancing teams in the varieties. In the stiffest place in the bill, in 1, they made a big hit. Four Rianos, 2 shows, 15 min. full stage -- Novel and acrobatic comedy act, "In Africa", in which two men make up as monkeys. It was the first time for the turn here in its present form and it scored a big laughing hit. It will be a corking act for children during a holiday week. Biograph, 3 shows, 18 min. in 1 -- Showing the following list of pictures: 1, Lillian Lawrence, John Craig and Mary Young, former Castle Square theatre players, automobiling in one of the parks in San Francisco. Excellent, photographically, and of course a big hit with the audiences here. 2, The Impossible Voyage. A novel, interesting and amusing picture, winning applause and laughter all through. The above two pictures will be held over next week. The Smedley-Arthur Sketch Club, 2 shows, 22 min. full stage -- This is the first time for these people in five years, and the boys have grown too large to be longer considered "cute" by the grown folks. It is draggy in spots and not the sort of material wanted in the nowadays vaudeville. Comment - With the exceptions noted in the above, the show is a satisfactory one.
