Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Week of December 26th, 1904. Providence, R. I. (Chas. Lovenberg, Mgr.) The bill this week is not at all satisfactory. With a very large and easy audience this afternoon, due to the after holiday spirit and many country people in, the various acts went very well but under normal circumstances the show would not make good at all and I don't look for any lousiness other than what we would get on account of the schools being closed during the next three days of the week. I don't mean to say that the various acts are bad but there is no strength to the show. The only first class act on the bill is Hilliard's and he has been seen here so much that he has no draft although he thoroughly pleases when seen. Tom Almond. Long shoe dancer and dancing on skates on a pedestal. Good three a day act. 12 minutes. Marlowe-Plunkett & Co. Well known act which they have done over the circuit several times which is always good in the early three a day section. 19 min. full stage 3 shows. Lottie Largan. This is a little local act which interests us only. Lavender & Tomson. In the same sketch they gave us last year. This is a case of where the vehicle is good and the performers bad. A couple of good people could make something of this. In my mind these people have no right out of the three a day section. 18 min. full stage, 2 shows. Billy Carter. Blackface banjoist. He is not doing nearly as well as I expected. Very old fashioned and this is another turn that should be doing three a day. 16 min. in one, 2 shows. Three Westons. This act opens splendidly with one of the girls playing the violin and the other singing a song as their second number but they are terribly handicapped by their father who is blind, attempting the comedy and of it, and their finish in one on three cornets is really poor. If the two girls could be secured to do their work which they could do in one or two very easily, they could give twelve or fifteen minutes of an especially pleasing turn which would be more valuable to us decidedly than their present act. They are very pretty and very clever. As it is in its entirety the act is only fair. 23 min. open in three closing with about 5 min. in 1, 2 shows. Doherty's Poodles. This is one of the best three a day acts that we get. The dogs are very clean and attractive and do some cunning tricks. Being introduced by a woman makes it a little bit of a novelty. Mighty good three a day act. 16 min. full stage. Marie Narelle. This woman is being paid entirely too much money. She has a strong voice and it is fairly well trained but it has very little sympathy and her manner is so effected as to detract from her work. She should be getting at least $25. less, especially considering the amount of time that she does, and only two shows. 8 min. in one. Six Glinserrettis. Very attractive acrobatic act though not sensational. 8 min. full stage, 2 shows.
