Matthews & Ashley.   These people do a very good act but are hardly worth the money in my mind. They are on too late on the bill for what we require in this house. If I could put them on one-half hour earlier that would be much better. They are getting all the money they are entitled to. 20 minutes in one, 2 shows.

ROBERG
Hilliard & Company.   Too well known to require comment except that his value as a drawing card is about gone,--Until he produces another new act, and even then I wouldn't care to give him this salary. again. He is to produce a new sketch here on Thursday as a trial.

Elmer Tenley.   This act also would be all right in an early spot on the bill, say an hour earlier, and one hundred dollars would be plenty salary for it. His material is not new but he produces it in a manner which makes a great deal of it appear so. Between eight and nine o'clock he would be very strong but at 9:35 he can't hold his end. 18 minutes in one, 2 shows.

The Garrisons.   In their new act AN ANCIENT ROMAN. This is a very pretentious affair, they have two elaborate scenes which they carry for it including nine or ten special drops. I don't consider the act as funny as what they produced before but it has the element ofnewness and novelty and is desirous from that standpoint. 23 min. full stage, 2 shows

Biograph.   Two short pictures and a special one entitled THE CHICKEN THIEF. This has a lot of action and is very good photogrphically though the comedy is not as strong as several of the others which they have given us.
