NEW YORK CRITICISM: WEEK JANUARY 2nd, 1905: ED. MULLEN & DOG: HR-3: Full stage, 13 minutes, close in one. Man and two dogs. The dogs are well trained. While the act is not a bad one, it failed to even amuse the holiday crowd. GORMAN & WEST: ER-3: Full stage, 15 minutes. Man and woman presenting the sketch "A Special Meeting". Contains many laughs and is an excellent sketch for the 3-a-day-section. FRANK H. WHITE & LEW SIMMONS: GYH-3: Drop in 1 or 2, 20 minutes. They are giving us the comedy "Get in de Band". white is really a funny comedian. They have a lot of new material and went big. WATSON & HILL: GRR-3: Drop 2, 12 minutes. Two young men in a singing and dancing act. They make an excellent appearance. Both are good singers and excellent dancers. THREE WESTONS: GHR-2: Full stage, 20 minutes, close in one. Consisting of Sam Weston and his two girls. The girls make a good appearance and are good musicians. It isnt a very strong act, but it is nicely dressed and very pleasing. This act always goes good here and I imagine it is due to the fact that every average New Yorker realizes the Father's infirmity. LIQUID AIR: ( -?-) Drop 2, 25 minutes, 2 shows. with Prof. Rugg as demonstrator an excellent attraction. Very entertaining to the holiday crowd, and strongly applauded at the finish, although I think the act is entirely too long. 20 minutes should be about the limit. DELIA FOX: HRR-2: Drop in 2, 12 minutes. Della received quite a lot of applause when her name was announced. Her voice has failed completely. While her act did not receive a big lot of applause I think we will make money on her name. MARTINI & MAXMILLIAN: GHR-2: Full stage, 20 minutes, close in 1, 5 mins. Two men in burlesque magic. The failure of Severus Schaffer to appear enabled us to give this act an excellent place on the bill. They made good and received quite a number of laughs. R. J. JOSE: YRR-2: Drop in one, 12 minutes. Received quite a hand when he appeared. Elegant voice; went good, although I think he is getting HR too much. DOLAN & LENHARR: YHR-2: Full stage, 25 minutes. Presenting the sketch, "Taking Chances". A sequel to "A High Toned Burglar". Full of good laughs. Went big with the holiday crowd. AL. FIELDS: GNH-2: Drop 1, 19 minutes. Late of Fields & Ward. He uses a lot of the old firm's material. He had them laughing continually, and I think he went fully as strong as when Ward was with him. FOUR RIANOS: YRR-2: Full stage, 16 minutes. Three men and one woman, carrying their own scenery, in a novelty acrobatic act. One man impersonating a Farmer while the others portray monkeys. The act consists of some good acrobatic work. They work quick and secure many laughs, and is excellent for a closing act. BIOGRAPH: "the Vintage". Picturesque scenes during the grape-picking season in Southern France. Good. "A Lover's Ruse". Fair. "Petticoat Lane" Some amusing snapshots in the London Ghetto. Good.
