Report on show, Keith's Theatre, Providence, R. I., Week of January 9, 1905. (Charles Lovenberg, Manager.) The show while not in any sense bad is rather ordinary. There is too much slap-stick comedy,--while some of it is very good indeed, you can get too much of a good thing. The sets which contain a great deal of this and for that reason conflict somewhat (although they have nothing in the acts which are practically alike) are the Orphans Comedy Four, Fitzgibbon-McCoy Trio, the opening of the Four Mortons, and Bailey and Madison. The Four Mortons conflict less than the others, the other three run into one another pretty strongly. The bill in no sense compares with that of last week. De Laska. Magician. An act that is all right to open the show in a continuous house. 13 min. full stage, 3 shows. Kimball & Donovan. Banjoists. Quite a good act of its kind. 13 min. in one, 3 shows. Gorman & West. These people have a very acceptable sketch from the three a day standpoint,-in the hands of better players it would be very good, all things considered it is O. K. 15 min. open three, close in one. Libbey and Trayer. Singing and alleged comedy. This is a pretty bad act. The man's voice is completely gone, his attempts at comedy are very tiresome and the woman has a fairly good voice and that is about all there is to the act. 20 min. open in 3, can close in one, 2 shows. Orphans Comedy Four. This is a rough-knock-about act which in its place in the bill (an easy spot) went first rate, but to my mind they should be doing three shows. There is very little merit to the act either in singing or comedy that I can see. 15 min. in one, 2 shows. Millman Trio. Wire walkers. This is one of the nicest acts of the kind I ever saw, the work of the young girl being especially attractive on account of her ingenious manner. It is not so much what they do, as the way in which they do it and they have general attractive personalities. 12 min. full stage, 2 shows. Carter & Bluford. Man and woman, colored. the woman being an especially pretty colored woman. They have an act that is entirely different from those given by their race and the woman's makeup as a Spanish girl and Indian is quite remarkable. They carry two drops which are something new to look at and all in all the act is a very good one indeed, especially when it is considered from the three a day standpoint. 15 min. in 1. Fitzgibbon McCoy Trio. The act of this team is too well known to require description other than to say, that they went quite strong. 20 min. open 3, close in 1, 2 shows. Mary Dupont. In "A Leap Year Leap". Very nice act without being especially good. Pleases thoroughly and is very desirable in the bill of this kind with so much low comedy. 19 min. full stage, 3 shows. Four Mortons. These folks have an act that is unquestionably the best act they have ever done. The young man has improved wonderfully since they were here last and they introduce a number of new features. They made a decided hit. 25 min. open with about 10 min. in one, close full stage, 2 shows.
