In his vocal and pantomimic imitations. Scored one of the hits of the bill, as he always does in this house. Easily the most valuable act, salary considered, that we play here. TenBrookes and Lambert, 2 shows, 23 min. full stage -- In their comedy and musical sketch, "Prof. Schmaltz's Academy", in which they scored a great hit the last time they were here. Today was no exception, the comedy getting lots of laughs, Miss TenBrooke being encored for her singing and Lambert compelled to repeat everything he played on the piano or violin. For Boston it is a great act. Rice and Prevost, 2 shows, 11 min. full stage -- Comedy acrobats, one working straight and the other a la George Caron. They got a big reception when they came on, due to the way I had boomed them in advance, and the act was an absolute scream throughout. Julian D. Eltinge, 2 shows, 13 min. full stage -- Received an immense hand when he came on, showing clearly that he had drawn a large number of the audience, or at least was popular with the majority. He is a great artist, better than Stuart or any of the rest of that class, for his act is absolutely without suggestion. He is a good singer and an artistic dancer, and his every number was encored. Ernest Hogan, 2 shows, 17 min. in 1 -- Got a big hand when he came on and held his audience intact, even after all the fast show that had preceded him. It is nonsense to say that there is any other colored man in his class. In his way, he is an artist, as much so as Bob Cole. All his songs were encored, and he might easily have continued to hold the stage longer, even though the show had overrun scheduled time some 15 or 20 minutes. Mme. Adelaide Herrmann, 2 shows, 28 min. full stage -- This woman has all her competitors beaten to a standstill, when all the points in her act are fairly considered. It is sumptuously staged, magnificently costumed, she is graceful in all her movements and has just ability enough to "make good" with her illusions without overdoing anything. She was enthusiastically applauded at the close of her act. Biograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1 -- Showing the following list of pictures: 1. The Bold Burglars. Interesting and comic. 2. The London Press. Interesting. 3. Naughty Boys and the Curate. Funny. 4. Chums. Interesting, to women and children particularly. 5. His Wrongs Avenged. Interesting, to the galleries, particularly. 6. Misplaced Signs. Amusing.
