96 CRITICISM - - CLEVELAND, O. - - Feb. 20th, 1905. Keith's Theatre. HILL & WHITAKER, in their musical specialty. This is a very good act. The woman is one of the best of all coon singers. She also plays the harp, he the banjo. The act runs about 12 minutes in one. GREEN & WERNER, in their specialty called "BABES OF THE JUNGLE" This act opens in one with singing and dancing. They then go to full stage and make up as Zulus. The scenery is very fine, and the act is quite a novelty, and away from all others. Consists entirely of singing and dancing. Time 15 minutes. MELVILLE & STETSON. This act is familiar to everybody, and needs no comment here. I don't believe, however, that their stuff is as good as it has been heretofore. At least, they don't go as well here as they might. 16 minutes in one. TROVOLLO, Ventriloquist. He is without doubt the best of all of them. His act goes bigger here than any of them I've ever played. He carries a lot of scenery with him, and the act is nicely dressed Time 18 minutes, including about 3 minutes in one, if necessary. LEW HAWKINS, in Monologue. He is going very well here this time. His stuff is very good, especially his songs. He finishes very strong, and is doing about 17 minutes in one. PETER F. DAILY, and his 8 Lulu Girls, in a sketch entitled "THE POLICE INSPECTOR" There is nothing to the act of any description that I can see. The songs are poor, and about the worst I've ever heard. He really hasn't one good song in the whole lot. The girls are nicely dressed, and at the finish of the act do 3 songs with some dances. I believe that if Mr. Dailey would get some new songs his act would go twice as well. There's no doubt but what he draws some money, and the act could be made a good one. I'm going to make some suggestions to him before the week is out. Time 25 minutes full stage. EMPIRE CITY QUARTETTE. This act is without doubt the best of all of them. They are going big. 18 min. in one. KENO, WALSH & MELROSE, Comedy Acrobatic Trio. This is a very good act, and should not be confounded with the other one of a similar name, as this act is much the better of the two. They made a big hit here, and are deserving of it. Time 15 minutes full stage. AMERICAN BIOGRAPH. I am running three films - "The Child Stealers", "The Handy Bread Basket" and "A Gentleman Highwayman" They are all good films. L. M. EIRICK.
