123 PHILADELPHIA SHOW, MAR. 20TH'05. H. A. DANIELS. WYMAN & ROSS-KR-3-German comedians, singing and talking. Cut out: "think pot," "shut up you fool"; "in the stove, you fool." A little crude in spots. Cut song: "Girl on the ladder with the hose." 15 mins. in one. STIRK & LOU DON-KR-3-Two men, acrobats, bike riding and barrel jumping. A very good three show sight act. Work rapidly and accurately 8 mins. Garden in 4. JACK IRWIN-SR-3-Character monologue. Some of his stuff was new, but it didn't "take." Hardly a laugh, except what he got on Frank Bush's jokes. No harm at the price. 14 mins. in one. RUSSELL & TILLYNE-GRR-3-Man and woman, grotesque dancers and eccentric comedy, which does not amount to much. One or two good laughs in the whole act. Not bad for the three show section, for the dancing is good. 14 mins. Gar. in 3. Close in one. MLLE. MARTHA-GYH-2-Trapeze performer, and a good one; nice appearance, refine and extremely daring. Very good. 12 mins. Gar. in 5. WILLIE GARDNER-SR-3-Boy, dancing on roller and ice skates. Much more interesting than a poor talking act. Very acceptable for the three show division. 9 mins. in one. BURTON & BROOKS-GHR-2-Two men, sketch "A Can of Humor." Some bright dialogue, and the act went well--very well in spots. A good act for this house for most any position. Made an applause hit with their parodies on "If I Were Only Mr. Morgan." 28 mins. Gar. in 5. Close in one. THEO. MORSE TRIO-GYN-2-Three men, singing their own songs. Good two show act, for the early section. guess they write songs better than they sing them, for they struck some sour notes. However, they got by very nicely. 14 mins. in one. BEDINI & ARTHUR-YHR-2-Well known comedy juggling act. Play the circuit frequently. Comedy is very good, and the crockery breaking always gets the laughs. Act was a laughing hit to-day. 19 mins. Water Landscape in 3. Close in one. BRUNO & RUSSELL-YRR-2-Man and woman, sketch "Tricks of the Trade." Talking, singing and dancing act. Cut out: "Run like hellovitch," "she slept alone in the garret--that was sad." These people were traveling in stiff company, and had hard work to hold their end up. Good act, but hardly good enough for this place. 18 mins. C.D.F. 2-1/2. Close in one. DIDA-SRR-2-Illusion, the trick being the creation of a woman, apparently out of nothing, in a tank (glass) of water, placed in the middle of the stage. A very good novelty act. 11 mins. C.D.F. in 3. SYDNEY GRANT-GHR-2-Monologue and stories, with some mimicry. Second appearance here in three years. Had a very hard place to-day, following the illusion, for a great many apparently came in just to see this act. However, he got his audience in two or three minutes, and from then on went very well. Good act. 23 mins. in one. LEWIS McCORD & CO.-YYH-2-To play this act the week following Moore & Littlefield lessens the value of both acts. There are only four acts of this kind in the world and it seems a shame to play them consecutively. However, I suppose the booking could not be shifted. [...] Good real life.
