126 CRITICISM - - CLEVELAND, O. - - March 20th, 1905. HAL GODFREY & CO. presenting "The Liar". I'm not getting very much out of this act, as I'm obliged to open the show with it. However, it was full of slang phrases, such as "slob", "hell", "damn", etc. The title "The Liar" and the character a drunken man, is, to my notion, enough to condemn it. I don't care to play it again. Time 20 minutes full stage, C. D. F. [ROSS? ROSE?] & [MATEN? HATEN?], Operatic Selections. This is a fair singing act, and that's all, one a contralto, and the other soprano. 12 minutes in one. JIU JITSU, the Japanese art of Self-defense. This act has created quite a little talk, and aroused considerable interest in this town, owing to the amount of advertising it's had. It's a good act. 12 minutes full stage. Garden. RENO & RICHARDS, Comedy acrobats. This act is familiar to everybody. Quite a little improved to what it was last year. It is still a big laugh getter. Time, 22 minutes in full stage, then [8? 3?] minutes in one. DELLA FOX, in Songs. She opened here yesterday in fairly decent voice. Better than she was when she appeared in this city before. Her high notes are all gone, and whether she's going to draw any money remains to be seen. This is her fourth time in this city. 10 minutes, full stage. COLBY & WAY, "The Ventriloquist and the Dancing Doll". This act is going very well here with us this week. It's got a good place on the bill, which has helped quite a little. The act is nothing out of the ordinary, and not as good as Trovollo, from a ventriloquial standpoint. The dancing doll is a little novelty. Mr. Colby opens in one about 8 minutes, and closes in full stage 20 minutes all told. C. D. F. DILLON BROS., in Songs. This act is going very well with us this week. Time 18 minutes in one. WILLIAMS & TUCKER, presenting "Skinny's Finish" These people are doing "Skinny's Finish" this week by request, and are doing very well, and without doubt the artistic hit of the bill. Eva Williams was especially well received with the audience yesterday. 28 minutes full stage, plain chamber. TECHOW'S CATS. This is the best act of its kind I've ever played, and first time in this house, and is going very well. time 14 minutes full stage. Palace. AMERICAN BIOGRAPH. Owing to the length of the show, I'm running but one film, and that's the one I'm holding over from last week entitled "Trials of an Automobilist". This is a good comedy picture, and has made a big hit here. L. M. EIRICK.
