147 CRITICISM - - CLEVELAND, O. - - - APRIL 10th. THREE MADCAPS, French Dancers. Straight acrobatic dancing act. This is just a fair act, and one of those kind of acts that don't go very big at this house. Time, 11 minutes full stage. MADDOX & PROUTY, "The messenger Boy and the Thespian". Prouty opens with a song which is fairly well rendered. After that, they do about 15 minutes of talking, which is only fair. All in one 17 minutes. BELLMAN & MOORE, in their comedy skit entitled "A Bit of Vaudeville". This act is familiar to everybody. They are only going fair. 23 minutes full stage. CHAS. T. ALDRICH, in his specialty. He did not go very well yesterday afternoon, and last night took some liberties with the audience which only hurt him still more. Time 23 minutes full stage. TOBY CLAUDE. She is going fairly well with her three songs. She makes one change of costume, and finishes with her trade-mark song from the "Chinese Honeymoon". All in one, 11 minutes. FILSON & ERROL, in their one-act comedy, "The Black Cat". This act is only going fair, and I don't call it the best sketch in his repertoire. I think he has others that are much better. time 22 minutes full stage. SPOOK MINSTRELS. This act is only going fair, and the criticisms in the newspapers were not of the best. The singing of the quintette at the finish in one was the best part of the act. Their music arrangement is not made to fit the working of the pictures, and it seems wherever they've played they've had trouble more or less. It's utterly impossible for the orchestra and those working on the props to keep time with the motion of the pictures. The act needs a thorough going over before it gets in first-class shape. Time 24 minutes in two, closing 7 minutes in one. LEIGH BROS. European Equilibrists. This is just a fair act, and consists of mostly head balancing. One of the brothers tries a few comedy stunts, with not much success. It's only good for an early place on the bill. 11 minutes full stage. AMERICAN BIOGRAPH. I'm using but one film this week, called "Wanted, A Dog", which is a very good film, and runs about 7 minutes. L. M. EIRICK.
