154 (M. J. Keating) Boston Show, Week of April 10, 1905. Stereopticon, 3 shows, 5 min. in 1 -- Usual selection of interesting home and foreign views. Joe Morris, 3 shows, 13 min. in 1 -- Hebrew parody singer, opening with a bit of burlesque bagpipe playing. All right from a 3-per-day standpoint, although our audiences do not appreciate that sort of comedy, as the East Side type of Hebrew is unknown to them. Earl and Wilson, 3 shows, 15 min. open in 3, close in 1 - In musical comedy specialties, the man being a fair instrumentalist, while the woman is an excellent eccentric comedienne, much better than our patrons seem to give her credit for. Fred Ray and Juliet Wood, 3 shows, 12 min. in 1 -- Presenting a Shakesperian burlesque that is very funny, especially at the close, where three of the stage hands are employed as Roman soldiers. Great Scott, 2 shows, 10 min. in 2 -- Acrobatic performer, doing juggling stunts while balancing at the top of a non-supported ladder. It went very well but the same class of work has been more sensationally presented here before. Blanche Sharp, 3 shows, 8 min. in 1 -- Vocal comedienne, making a couple of costume changes. She is not bad looking and her costumes are neat, but she has a rather poor quality of voice. All right, however, for an early position in the 3-show section. Lewis McCord and Company, 2 shows, 28 min. full stage -- Presenting the sketch, "Her Last Rehearsal", which has decidedly been played often enough. Every time McCord has played here he has brought along a supporting actor who in every case was worse than his predecessor, but the chap he has with him this trip is the absolute limit, and how he was allowed to go the circuit with him at all is a mystery. For Boston, we do not want the act again at any price. Janet Melville and Evie Stetson, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1 - These women went just as well as ever, everything they did being encored, and Miss Stetson's comedy enjoyed to the limit. I do not think Miss Melville ever went so well in this house as this afternoon, either. Of course, they were superbly gowned. one of the sort that always makes a hit with the audience of this theatre. Went big in an unusually stiff place in the show. I was not aware the Joe Morris was only booked for two shows, having had him scheduled for three and opening the bill. He is distinctly a three turner, and not worth over NH. At GRR and two shows it is a glaring case of bunco. So far as Boston is concerned, at least.
