162 TEMPLE THEATER DETROIT, MICH., APRIL 24. J. H. Finn-Criticism. RICHARD GOLDEN & CO. Cast of seven people presenting "Old Jed Prouty in Boston," a condensed version of Mr. Golden's first great success "Old Jed Prouty." Comedian Golden and his company scored one of the biggest hits of the current vaudeville season. All the comedy and all the heart interest of the original comedy-drama has been boiled down to 27 min. HOWARD & NORTH Two men presenting a new talking act entitled "Happy Days." This act is entirely away from all others, and is one of the best acts on the circuit. The men carry their own drop, their talk is bright and snappy, their comedy excellent, and they scored one of the big hits of a big bill. 22 min., with drop. TOM NAWN & CO. This well known comedian returned with "Pat and the Genii." He has substituted Miss Anna Willard for his daughter Katherine who lost her heart and was married in Australia. Miss Willard last appeared here in the support of Chrystal Horne. The excellent comedy does not suffer in the least through the change in cast, and it received an ovation as usual. But Tom is about due for a new comedy. 25 m. THE FOUR LUKENS This great casting act, although seen here before, created a sensation. The men have added a few new thrillers since their trip abroad and they now have no equals in their line of work. Although they missed a number of times at both Monday performances this only added to the general excitement of the occasion. 9 min. LEW HAWKINS This monologist is making his first appearance at the Temple, and making good. He is much superior to the ordinary run of monologists. All his stuff, or nearly all, is new; his parodies are good, and he added to the general excellence of the bill. 19 min. in one. JOHN ZIMMER Juggling act. this is a fair little act that would always do to open a show but would never do to go further down in the bill. 9-1 CHARLES AND MINNIE SA-VAN This is only a fair comedy-acrobatic act. CAROLYN YOUNG Whistler (Substituted for The Young American Quintet delayed en route) Miss Young more than made good with her whistling. She has improved wonderfully since her last appearance here. Our kinetograph film was very poor. N. B.-One of the best shows for the money in America.
