166 (F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of May 1, 1905 Stereopticon, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1--Interesting collection of home and foreign views. The Brazils, 3 shows, 11 min. full stage--First time here. Juvenile acrobatic comedians. Very good opening act for this house. Glad to have them return. Stevenson and Bissett, 3 shows, 9 min. in 1--First time here. Vocalists and dancers. The singing is poor but the dancing carried them off in good shape. Fair act for the 3-show section. Kenyon and DeGarmo, 3 shows, 9 min. in 2--First time here. Man and woman, pleasing appearance and neatly costumed in daring feats of equilibrism. Excellent act for the 3-show section. Mattie Lockett, 3 shows, 14 min. in 1--First time here. Juvenile impersonator of personality; dancing is good and she made good in this place in the bill. Leigh Brothers, 2 shows, 10 min. full stage--First time here. Skilful balancing and some ground tumbling. Good act and got a good hand at the finish. Alexander Bevan and Alice Desmond, 2 shows, 15 min. in 1--First time here. Pleasing vocalists in operatic selections. I booked this act to full in time I found I needed. Well worth the salary we are paying. Got a good hand and I will move them further down the bill. DeWitt, Burns and Torrance, 2 shows, 14 min. in 3--In acrobatic comedy act, "The Awakening of Toys". Great act for the children. Burns does some clever perch work. Would be a corking act for Christmas week. Applause hit up to this point. Lillian Shaw, 2 shows, 14 min. in 1--Vocal character comedienne. In some of her work she attempts to imitate Nora Bayes and it was a decided failure. Her character songs went very well. Good act for this house. Mon. Chassino, 2 shows, 14 min. full stage--Second time here for this man. The best in the business. All of his work was appreciatively encored. Press Eldridge, 2 shows, 22 min. in 1--Blackface comedian. First advance applause of the day; most of his material was new and he went the best he ever did in this house. Received a good hand at the finish. Henry Miller, 2 shows, 30 min. full stage--Excellent hand on his appearance. I can only repeat the criticism of the other houses. The best act of the kind ever played in this house. will undoubtedly draw big business. it is wasted. Comments:- The show is an excellent one from top to bottom. All 3-turners were first time. The audience was large and enthusiastic and thorough enjoyed the sight of new acts and new faces. We should do a big business throughout the week.
