182 (F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of May 22, 1905. Stereopticon, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1--Usual collection of home and foreign views. James Kennedy and Belle James, 3 shows, 15 min. in 2--In a comedy skit, "Doctor Daffy", introducing singing and dancing specialties. One of the sort of acts we don't want here again. The singing is very bad and the dancing is only fair. Poor act from any standpoint. Gus Henderson and Eva Ross, 3 shows, 13 mins. full stage-- In the comedy sketch, "Fun at Grigg's Corner", introducing wire stunts by Henderson. This is an excellent 3-show act and went well in this spot. Albora Trio, 3 shows, 14 min. in 1--Three men, street singers, musicians and imitators of deep tone bells. First time here. The singing was appreciatively listened to and they seemed a fair amount of applause for this spot in the bill. Will go better tonight, as our audiences fancy this sort of thing. Good 3-a-day act. Val Lear and Duke, 3 shows, 20 min. open in 2, close in 1--In another would-be comedy sketch. Very poor act for this house but they managed to secure some applause from the balconies. We can easily do without them another time. Delphino and Delmora, 3 shows, 12 mins, open full stage, close in 1--Man and woman, first time here. Grotesque musicians. Welcome relief from what went before. It will prove a good act for the children. Got considerable applause at the finish. Good 3-a-day act. LaVine- Cimaron Trio, 2 shows, 10 min. in 2--Two men and a woman, comedy acrobats and dancers. Well-known on the circuit. The woman's dancing brought the first real applause of the day. Act is full of snap and vim and makes an excellent turn for this house. Avon Saxon, 3 shows, 10, min. in 1--Baritone vocalist. First time here. We put this man in the place of Denny, who kicked about paying for orchestrations that he was short. Saxon is quite well-known about the city. He is only a fair vocalist, but secured considerable applause, more I think, owing to his being a Bostonian than his abilit. Valvero's Naval Bombardment, 2 shows, 14 min. full stage--Man and woman, first time here. The man does some very rapid warship drawing on three boards, and then gives an imitation of a supposed bombardment. His work is good and it is quite a novelty. Went quite well this afternoon; won considerable applause at the finish. Davis and Walker, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1--Man and woman "real coon" comedians, singers and dancers. Well-known on the circuit; went quite well with the blase audience today. Will undoubtedly go better later on in the week.
