George Reno and Frank Richards, 2 shows, 17 min. open full stage, close in 1--Clever comedy acrobats. Laughing hit up to this point, in fact, it was the first REAL bit of laughter. They are too well-known to need any extended comment from me. Act good. Edwin Stevens, 2 shows, 24 min. open in 2, close in 1--Popular versatile comedian. Got a good reception when he came on. His entertainment, "A Night Off", is a conglomeration of almost everything and his work is that of an artist. Practically the same act he had here last year, but the audience appreciated it as if they had never seen it. Got an enthusiastic hand at the finish. Spessardy's Bears, 2 shows, 14 min. full stage--This man has seven full grown bears, two cubs and two ponies in his troupe. They ride bicycles, wooden horses and breakfast, manlike. It is quicker in action than most bear acts and went very well today. Will try to get the children in during the week by putting it on after school hours. Biograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1--Showing the following list of motion pictures: 1. 'Op O' My Thumb. One of the best pictures we have had for quite a while. 2. Oslerizing Papa. Fair. 3. A Modern Apollo. Good picture of this sort. 4. The Insurance Collector. Good comedy picture. Comment:- Acts like Kennedy and James and VanLear and Duke, would be better left out of our bills. They are simply fierce. People telephoning from our booths were actually saying up to the time of VanLear and Duke wen ton, "it was one of the worst shows they had seen in this house", and I must agree with them. From VanLear and Duke down there is no kick whatever, although very few were up to the standard of the house. Owing to a falling off on time, we will be obliged to run in another act tonight. Will report on this act later.
