185 (F. J. O'Conner) Boston Show, Week of May 29, 1905 Stereopticon, 3 shows, 5 min. in 1--Usual selection of interesting home and foreign views. Morton, Temple & Morton, 3 shows, 12 min. in 2--Man, boy and girl, singers, dancers and acrobats. The singing is only fair but their dancing and acrobatic work is good. This is the sort of act, with its snap and vim, that we want in preference, by all means to the "would be" sketches that we had last week. Good act for the 3-show section, good openers. Browning, Welp and Company, 3 shows, 23 min. in 3--Two women and a man, in a supposed comedy sketch with singing and dancing specialties. There is no plot to the piece and the singing and dancing is only fair. Not much of an act from any standpoint, for this house, although they secured some applause at the finish. Walter Daniels, 3 shows, 16 min. in 1--Impersonator of noted stage characters. Makes up in full view of the audience and carries on an interesting conversation meanwhile. Excellent act for the 3-show section; secured a good hand at the finish. Marguerite and Hanley, 2 shows, 10 min. in 4--A really remarkable woman and a clever man in wonderful gymnastic feats. One of the best acts of the kind we have had here for some time. Excellent act from any standpoint; got a good hand at the finish. Bailey and Fletcher, 3 shows, 14 min. in 1--Two men "real coon" comedians, singers and dancers. As usual, a "coon" turn here they went very well. Their dancing is exceptional and they secured considerable applause at the finish. The Great Lafayette, 2 shows, 40 min. full stage--Got quite a hand on his entrance. Started his act with lightning changes and then performed conjuring feats a la Ching Ling Foo. The orchestra he carried in this portion of the act is the only thing on which to criticize and that is certainly BEYOND the limit. Sounded like a fakir crowd-attracter. He next travestizes noted bandmasters, past and present, including Creatore. Secured the most applause at the finish in proportion to the audience, that I have heard handed out to any act in this theatre for a long time. With the exception of the "band" everything he doesis above criticism. Louise Brehaney, 2 shows, 12 min. in 1--Pleasing soprano vocalist with quite a sweet voice, but of no great range. Went well enoug in this house to receive an enthusiastic encore. {Partially covered......} Browning Welp and Company. Comment:- It is an excellent bill and considering the very hot day, we had a good sized audience. The 3-show section was a vast improvement over last week, possibly excepting Browning Welp and Company. LaFayette's first act went with great applause but the second fell down considerably. If we have any sort of weather the rest of the week I see o reason why we should not do good business.
