188 PHILADELPHIA SHOW, JUNE 5TH'05. H. A. DANIELS. LA BELLE-HR-3-Juggler and hoop roller. Tramp makeup. Performs a number of ordinary tricks very acceptably. Good sight act for an opener. 13 mins. Garden in 4. NORTON,TEMPLE & NORTON-KR-3-Two men and a woman. A bad steal from Fitzgibbons, McCoy Trio. Call themselves comedy acrobats. Didn't see any acrobatic work. Simply a crazy song and dance act, with some fool talk and a few ordinary flip-flaps. Wouldn't want the act again here at any price. Cut out speech to the audience where the comedian (?) says: "I'll applaud for you." 12 mins. Landsc. 4-1/2. Close in one. MUSICAL HUEHN-HR-3-Dutch makeup. Bells, saxaphone, etc. Comedy, bad; singing, hardly fair; music carries the act--but doesn't carry it far. Just about fair for an early spot, and that's all. 12 mins. C.D.F. in 2. MITCHELL & CAIN-GYH-3-The old team--back together again. However, they are not better than Cain and De [Forrest?]. Act is well known on the circuit. Good comedy, good singing and--good act. Went very well. Cut out "flea" and doughnuts" stories. 20 mins. in one. NORMAN D. STELL-HR-2-English school boy soprano. Sang three songs: "The Heavenly Song," "The Flight of Ages" and "Mona." The numbers were applauded. 13 mins. in one. HARRY POTTER & CO. -GHR-2-Two men and a woman. Sketch "A Matrimonial Blizzard." Act like amateurs. From the three-show standpoint, can be used to fill time in some houses, but I doubt if any of them were ever before on a stage. They rant and fuss, and every action, word and gesture is unnatural. The audience laughed--but at the awkwardness. Not a hand. 20 mins. C.D.F. in 3. PAUL BARNES-GRR-2-Monologue and songs. Tramp makeup, as usual. Well known act. Always goes very well here. Parodies went especially well. Good act. 15 mins. in one. MEEHAN'S DOGS-GNR-2-Dogs have fleas: and they devote all their spare time to scratching. Animals are well trained. Act is quite a good one for the money and will greatly please the children. 15 mins. Garden in 4. VAN ALSTYNE & HENRY-YRR-2-Man and woman. Man plays the piano and acts as a feeder for Louise Henry in her specialty, "The Sal Skinner Gal." Some of the talk is quite bright. Received applause in spots. Good act. Cut out: "Soloman had three hundred lady friends." 21 mins. in one. EDWIN STEVENS-MRR-2-A Night Out." Same act he has presented before, with a few changes in songs and stories. Very good act for this house--artistic, finished, clever. Went very well to-day. 19 mins. C.D.F. in 3. Close in one. [under page] BIOGRAPH-A RISE FROM THE RANKS, Fair comedy; HIRAM CRONK'S FUNERAL,Good marching picture; THE BLACK IMP, Good magic; A PAJAMA DANCE, Fair novelty; THE MOONLOVERS, Good comedy.
