216 NEW YORK CRITICISM JULY 24th,1905. The inclement weather gave us a pretty fair house, the audience being rather enthusiastic, everything went with a howl. The show was built for comedy purposes and it is one of the best we had here for many a week. The Avon Comedy Four made the biggest kind of a hit and carry off first honors for the laughs. Would like to have a chance at this show in winter season. GATES & NELSON Two men, revolving globes. Quite a neat little act. The men do some good work on the globes. Excellent act for an opener. Nine minutes, full stage, three shows. Wills and Norris "The Minstrel Girls" It will be very difficult to make these girls do three shows if they continue to make the hit as they did this afternoon. All their songs and dances were encored and on the finish they bowed three times. Will arrange to give them a better place. Thirteen minutes in one, three shows. Barr and Evans This old reliable team managed to hold their own this afternoon, received a big lot laughs. Good three-a-day number. Eleven minutes full stage, three shows. Violet Staley Singing Comedienne. This woman's voice will not cau any sensation, her appearance will carry her. She is rather attractive and wears some elegant costumes. At the salary she is alright for an early place. Twelve minutes in one, three shows. O'Rourke and Burnett Man and woman, clog dancers. Strongly applauded for their dancing. Act always goes well here. Good three-a-day act. Thirteen minutes in one. Yamamoto Brothers Wire and Perch act. The Japs made quite a hit this afternoon, all their work, which is very clever was applauded. They close in one about three minute Thirteen minutes, full stage, two shows. The Baileys Colored singers and dancers. The woman in this act just about gets out. Bailey is alright, ,but he should get another woman. The set is not as strong as before, the shadow-dance being a "passe" They get some little applause on the finish. Twelve minutes in one, three show. Orth and Fern Two young men in their musical comedy "Sign that Book" Very good act both from the instructive and comedy stand point. Orth is a very clever pianist and made a big hit, while Fern is a good comedian. The act is greatly improved and scored big. Fifteen minutes full stage, close in one about [[missing text as the same review apparently continues on another sheet of paper?]] minutes in one, two shows. Three Nevaros Two men and a woman, in a neat equilibristic performance. All of their work was applauded. Excellent act, Eight minutes, full stage. The Kinetograph What Happened in the Tunnel This film was shown during the Biograph exhibition. Fairly good. The Ocean Yacht Races Good photographically On A Good 5¢ Trolley Ride Chasing picture, good.
