217 PHILADELPHIA SHOW, JULY 24TH'05 [1905]. H. T. JORDAN. MARTIN & RIDGWAY-NH-3-Man and woman, in a nonsense act, composed chiefly of burlesque acting, introducing singing and a little eccentric dancing. A fair act from a three-a-day standpoint. Aroused some laughter and a small hand at the finish. 11 mins. in 1. CHALK SAUNDERS-AR-3-Crayon artist. No change in routine since last here. Held the attention of the audience and aroused much laughter. A valuable act for the early bill. Sincere applause at finish. Will move him down the bill. 9 mins. in 1. VONTELLO & NINA-KR-3-Man and woman, on the flying rings and trapeze, doing the regulation stunts. While their work lacks grace they seem to please mildly. A fair act if not on too late. 10 mins. Gar. 4. DEL-A-RHONE-HR-3-Mimic, imitating natural sounds--telephone, etc. This young chap is quite clever and made a good impression. Good act at the money. 11 mins. in 1. WOOD & BERRY-KR-3-Man and woman, in a dancing and singing act, introducing bell ringing and piano playing. The piano playing is tiresome. The woman does no dancing. A fair act from a three-a-day standpoint. 15 mins. C.D.F. in 2. HAWTHORNE & BURT-KR-3-Two men one working straight, other Hebrew. The talk is witty; the comedian, right clever; and the eccentric dancing good. Laughter and applause hit up to this point. Three bows at finish. Mighty good act. 16 mins. in 1. LA PETITE ADELAIDE-GYH-2-Toe dancer. This little lady is a very clever dancer, and went better to-day than ever before in this house. While our audience seems to enjoy good dancing acts they are always very stingy with the applause. Good act. 10 mins. Gar. in 3. RAY L. ROYCE-2-Character impersonations. Received first advance applause of the day. Mr. Royce is a clever actor and his work was well appreciated and applauded. Closed strong. Good act. 16 mins. in 1. THE TOBINS-GNH-2-Two young ladies in a straight musical act. Both are attractive, know how to dress modestly and tastefully, and are good musicians. Pleased our patrons, and held down their position on the bill very satisfactorily. Good act. 16 mins. C.D.F. in 3. Close in 1 BURKE'S DOGS-GRR-2-At the price a good act, arousing quite a lot of laughs and some applause. Burke personally is bad, and the audience is of the impression that he is cruel to the dogs. The musical part of the act went very well. 15 mins. Gar. in 4. JULIA KINGSLEY & NELSON LEWIS-GNH-2-In the farce, entitled "After the Honeymoon." The vehicle is a strictly low comedy one, and gets the laughs. Both people are good in this line of work. Good act. 20 mins. Fancy in 3.
