220 PHILADELPHIA SHOW, JULY 31ST, 1905. H.T. JORDAN. MUSICAL BELLS-3-KR- These young men refused to work with a piano, claiming to be a feature act, and insisting on having the orchestra and a better spot. Could not accommodate them so they went home. AL. H. BURTON-3-HR-Songs and stories. A well dressed young man of good stage presence. His work is very good, his songs well sung and his stories well told. Went first rate. Good three a day act. 13 mins. in 1. LECLAIR & HARDT-3-KR-Comedy Act. Two men in the regulation burlesque strong man act. They got the laughs, some of their work being very funny. From a three a day standpoint may be called a good act. 15 mins. in 3. BARRETT SISTERS & MIRIAM CARSON- Songs and dances. These young ladies, who were members of McMahon's Watermelon Girls, were booked to fill the place vacated by The Musical Bells. They are young, dress all in white, and make a pleasing appearance. Fair singers and good dancers. Went very well. Good act for an early bill. 12 mins. in 1. MONTAGUE'S BIRDS-2-GHR- This man only has twelve cockatoos and consequently his act is not as showy as Naynon's. The birds are fairly well trained but the act lacks finish. As we play so few bird acts this one was something of a novelty to our audience. Received some applause. Fair act. 14 mins. in 3. MILLS & MORRIS-3-GYH- Minstrel maids. Duplicated success in New York in fact a hit from start to finish. Mighty good act. 13 mins. in 1. ORTH & FERN-2-GNH- Two men, one straight the other comedy messenger boy. First advance applause of the day. Orth's work on the piano was immense while Fern's comedy work and songs made a strong impression. Whole act a hit to-day. 14 mins. in 2. Close 3 mins. in 1. DIXON, BOWERS & DIXON-2-YRR- Three men in Rube makeups presenting same act that they have always given us. Went pretty good considering the fact that they had a hard place, following two hits. Good act. 11 mins. in 3. Close 3 mins. in 1. BARRY & HALVERS-2-GHR- Man and woman, man working as a tramp. Barry is quite a good comedian and a very good eccentric dancer while the woman is a good dresser and fair singer. Pleased and aroused quite a lot of applause. Good act. 15 mins. in 3. Close 3 mins. in 1. ELMER TENLY-2-GHR- Comedian. Irish makeup. This man has changed the outline of his act somewhat since last here. He kept the house in a roar to-day and closed strong. Good act.
