230 PHILADELPHIA SHOW. AUG. 21 1905. H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW. AUG. 21 1905. (2) H. T. JORDAN. THOMSON & VIDOCQ-2-Singing and talking comedians. This team is made up of Vidocq, of the old firm of Haines and Vidocq, and Harry Thomson well known in burlesque. The act is modeled after the old one of Haines and Vidocq and much of the material is the same. Made out all right to-day going especially strong with the up stairs patrons. Good act at the price. 23 mins. Adv. St. in 1. JANE COURTHOPE & CO.-2-Jane Courthope supported by Chas. Forrester in the farsical sketch entitled, "A Fisherman's Luck." The sketch is based on the old story of the husband deceiving the wife. While it amounts to little in itself it affords a good vehicle for Miss Courthope and Mr. Forrester to display their talents as comedians. The situations are ridiculous, the action rapid and both people are clever. While is left but little impression, the laughter throughout was practically continious and it may be rated a good act. 23 mins. Yellow F. in 3. MIRZL VON WENZL-2-Tyrolean singer. This young lady is of preposessing appearance, dressed in native costume, and has a good voice. Her yodling is very good. The act was novel to our audience and went very well indeed. 8 mins. Olio in 1. BALLATZER SISTERS-2-Five young ladies in work on the rings and trapeze. While the act is very showy, the work done is only ordinary, and failed to make much of an impression at to-days matinee. A good sight act, but not strong enough for a head liner. 10 mins. Pal. in 4. WM. CAHILL-2-The man from Ireland. This man works on the order of Geo. Davis. Both his talk and his songs were well received this afternoon. Good act. 14 mins. Olio in 1. SHERMAN & DEFOREST-2-Man and woman in the non-sensical burlesque entitled "The Fall of Port Arthur." While this act is well known over the circuit it was the first time for it in this house. The act is funny all right and so impressed our audience, but it is very rough from start to finish. Cut, "under the pillows they are creeping, and "go to h-ll." Dont care to see them again for a long while. While the people laugh while it is on, it did not make a favorable impression as I know from comments made by people going out. It is not an act of the calabre our audiences are accustomed to. 13 mins. Spec. in 4. JOS. GASSMAN & PICKS.-2-Miss Gassman has three picks with her this trip and they are very clever. They have never had any trouble in this house in making good in any place on the bill, and they kept up their reputation to-day. Applause hit of the show. 14 mins. Drap. in 1.
