234 PHILADELPHIA SHOW. AUG. 28 1905. MEANY & ANDERSON-3-Man and woman in a rube sketch entitled, "Going to the City." While neither of the pair are very talented, and the vehicle itself is ordinary, the act is inoffensive, and all right for an opener. 16 mins. C.D.F. 2 1/2, close in 1. NESSEN & NESSEN-3-Jugglers and hoop rollers. Three boys, one doing comedy as a rube kid. These people have improved greatly since last here, and presented a very pretty little sight act this afternoon. Frequent applause. From a three a day standpoint, a mighty good act. 10 mins. Gar. in 3. RAY COX-3-Comedienne. This young lady is typically southern, has a rather attractive personality, and original methods. Her work this afternoon went very well indeed. Good early act. 14 mins in 1. RADO & BERTMAN-3-Man and woman in a little comedy sketch in which they introduce singing, dancing, and contortion work. Both people are quite clever, and had no trouble in entertaining to-days audience. Good act. 16 mins. C.D.F. in 3. MURPHY & ANDREWS-3-Man and woman in talk and songs. From a three a day standpoint a very good act. Their material is rather away from the average act of this kind, and the songs introduced are good. Good hand at the finish. 17 mins. in 1. LES LAROSES-3-Man and woman on the slack wire. While they do most of the routine stunts, they work neatly and costume the act well. Good act for the money. 9 mins. Gar. in 4. JOHN D. GILBERT-2-The eccentric comedian. Gilbert never has any trouble in making good here, and to-day, in a soft spot was the laughter and applause hit of the show up to this point. Always a good act for this house. 20 mins. in 1.
