NEW YORK CRITICISM AUGUST 28th,1905 235 NOTE:- The show is the best we have had for many weeks. Lafayette made a tremendous hit in his impersonations of musical directors, getting the biggest applause of any act in this house for many years. Cliff Gordon, as usual went big and takes second honors. The show is nicely balanced, not a bad number and with good show weather will be a money maker. Charles and Katherine Gibson Full stage, Twenty-one minutes. In their serio-comic playlet "The Burglar's Kit" Rather serious, but interesting and well done. Alright for an early place. Great Chick Full stage, opens in one, twelve minutes. This young man has improved a little, secured a number of laughs, and does some trick riding that pleases. Alpha Trio Full stage, ten minutes. Two men and a woman, comedy hoop jugglers. One man impersonates the rube. Their work is good, introducing a number of new tricks, with some pretty fair comedy. Received some applause throughout and closed very strong. Jack & Bertha Rick Drop in one, thirteen minutes. Boy and girl, singing, talking, and dancing. This woman's singing is a scream, their talking just about passes, the dancing saves them, and secured some aplause on the finish. Charles Serra Full stage, nine minutes. First American appearance. This man opens with several poses on a white-column, making a very pretty effect, then attempts some hand balancing, on the pedestal, which he does nicely. He received frequent applause during act and closed strong. Halladay and Leonard Drop in one, fifteen minutes. Leonard, formally Gilmore and Leonard and Halladay of Halladay and Ward. The act is the same as presented by Gilmore and Leonard and I believe a little better. They have some new material and secured a big lot of laughs and closed very strong. The Great Lafayette Full stage, nineteen minutes. In protean changes. While this man failed to secure any great amount of applause for his work, believe he had them guessing. Received some scattered hands on his finish. Klekko & Fravoli Drapery in one, seventeen minutes. Man and woman, selections from "Trovatore" in Italian, closing with an English number. Splendid appearance, gorgeous costumes, pleasing voices. Big applause during the "Trovatore" number and strong applause on the finish. Ellis-Nowlan Trio Full stage, close in one, twelve minutes. Two men and a woman, acrobatic comedy. Excellent act, full of life and ginger. Acrobatic work clever, with a lot of new stunts. Plenty of laughs. Biograph Twenty minutes. Mr. Kanyouspellit and his airship Good Playmates Good The Gay Washerwoman Fair comedy The Wonderful Album (2nd, week) Good Modern Brigande Automobile holdup, chasing picture Very Good.
