Colonial Septet, 2 shows, 28 min. open in 1, go to 3, close in 1 --This has been commented on in the other houses. One of the handsomest and most artistic musical acts we have ever played and it went big throughout. Could easily be held over and make good. Spissel Brothers and Mack, 2 shows, 12 min. full stage--Clever trio of acrobats, two men in eccentric makeup and the other working straight. Laughed at throughout. Excellent act of the kind for this house. Dixon and Anger, 2 shows, 16 min. in 1 --German dialect comedians. These men have practically the same lot of material as on their last visit here and as a consequence did not go near so well. This position is altogether too stiff for them and will move them up for the balance of the week. Berzac's Circus, 2 shows, 15 min. full stage--Consisting of four handsome ponies and a clever donkey. He opens his act with some hurdle jumping by the ponies and then invites anyone to ride "Kruger", the donkey. We had several aspirants today, but none were successful, although their attempts were hilariously funny. He closes by having one of the ponies gallop a revolving table and then invites anyone in the audience to attempt the same feat, and if successful, he will present them with his week's salary. Made the biggest hit of the kind today and it is unquestionably one of the best acts of the kind I think the act should be gobbled all the time possible wjile in this country. Kinetograph, 3 shows, 20 min. in 1--Showing the following list of interesting pictures: 1. Recent Automobile Contests for the Gordon Bennett Cup. Quite a clear and interesting picture for automobilists. 2. The Phenomenal Hen. Just a fair picture. 3. The Gun License. This colored film is very indistinct Comment: The 3-a-day material is entirely without balance Every act with the exception of Spilk down to Jane Courthope contains singing--good, nad, and indifferent--which gave the show a blackeye before we were fairly into it. Thompson and Vidocq's material is exceedingly course bordering close to offensive. The Colonial Septet, Barzac's Circus, Spissell Brothers and Mack, Jane Courthope, Mark Sullivan, Stanley and Brockman and Grace Leonard in their respective positions were alone worthy to be contained in a Keith bill. We had a very good audience this afternoon in spite of the good wether. P. S. The Castanos should follow Grace Leonard: 3 shows, 12 min. full stage--Man and woman, in singing and dancing specialties with some contortion work by the woman. They are firece as vocalists and just fair dancers. The contortion work by the woman secured a lot of applause at this point.
